Free fruit and veg for low income families

The Government will hand out milk, fruit and vegetables and formula for babies

Pregnant women and toddlers from low income families are to get free fruit and vegetables under a Government scheme starting next week.

The Healthy Start programme replaces the Welfare Food Scheme, set up during the Second World War to protect the health of children during rationing.

I have been getting free milk for my son and would have qualified for this instead but he will turn 5 after christmas so I won't get anything.

The association where I try to do my part from Philanthropian point of view in my community has divided recently foodstuff-aid for low income families. I think that this kind of concrete aid is better than giving money. But overall - it's sad that women and children are still in need for aid in this so called civilized western world. It's not fair at all.
