England smoke ban to start 1 July

Quote:
Smoking in enclosed public places will be banned in England from 1 July next year, the government has announced.
The ban covers virtually all enclosed public places including offices, factories, pubs and bars, but not outdoors or in private homes.

It follows similar bans in the Irish Republic and Scotland - a ban in Wales starts on 2 April.

It's amazing how quickly you get used to it. I don't suppose it affects me as much as I don't smoke but being in England in September it was the weirdest thing ever to see smoking lounges in the airport and the like!

even as an occasional social smoker I have really appreciated the ban in Scotland. Means that I think twice before having to light up when half-cut ::lol::

and means my clothes don't smell of smoke even if I haven't been smoking which is always good :D

I have to admit as a non smoker if I go to a pub I do come home smelling like an ashtray ..which isn't nice.
Only thing is if I go to the pub with a smoker after July I'll spend most of the time alone while they have to go outside for a quick one!

Social smoker in my books was someone who nicked my fags and never bought a packet of their own :angel: :angel: :angel: ::lol:: ::lol::

been having this arguement on several forums ..

In short the lack of lee way in the lawwill cause increased noise pollution outside pubs in residential areas as smokers stand outside smoking and in clubs and lung busting amount of secret puffing in the can as usualy once in a club theres no way out till you leave.

A law designed and enforced by a non smoker

thank goodness i no longer smoke
