Police are reviewing their decision to close a string of nightclubs this week to protect the public.
Eight London nightclubs have been shut since Monday because of a risk to public safety.
They include celebrity haunts Movida, Pangea, Crystal and Chinawhite.
Police would not comment on what triggered the closures.
But the Evening Standard newspaper said the closures were linked to a feared turf war between doormen.
A Scotland Yard spokesman the decision to close the nightclubs would be reviewed today.
He said: "Following intelligence received, we contacted representatives of eight nightclubs in Westminster on Monday who volunteered to close for business.
"At this time we consider the risk to public safety is still such that we must continue to request that the venues remain closed."
A spokesman for Westminster City Council said its officers would be liaising with the police today.
The City of Westminster encompasses Soho, Mayfair and The Strand.
