Updated: 10:15, Friday March 16, 2007 The Three Little Pigs have been reinstated in a school play after originally being changed to puppies for fear of offending Muslim families. Roald Dahl's version of Little Red Riding Hood, which features the pigs, was being put on by children in West Yorkshire. The organisers of the show, to be performed by Honley C of E Junior School at Huddersfield Town Hall, decided it was politically correct to replace hogs with hounds. They feared the Three Little Pigs could offend Muslim children taking part, or their parents. But Islamic leaders condemned the move as misguided and said such decisions were turning Muslims into 'misfits' of society. Shaykh Ibrahim Mogra, of the Muslim Council of Britain, told the Daily Mail: "There's an issue about the eating of pork, which is forbidden, but there is no prohibition about reading stories about pigs." Town councillors stepped in to reverse the decision, changing the characters back from the Three Little Puppies. Committee member Gill Goodswen said: "We feared that some Muslim children wouldn't sing along to the words about pigs. "If changing a few words avoids offence then we will do so." Independent local councillor Terry Lyons said he thought the decision was pandering to extremists. Coun Lyons said he worried the decision would also encourage far-right groups who could feed on the discontent provoked by the change. SKY |

They feared the Three Little Pigs could offend Muslim children taking part, or their parents. No concern about offending the C of E Junior School children with their ridiculous PC **** i see. |
