Sun-seekers jetting off to Spain in search of an all-over tan this summer are facing the unthinkable – a ban on topless sunbathing.

Residents of the Costa Blanca are urging councils to outlaw women from taking off their tops.

They also want skimpy bikini bottoms and thongs prohibited, and have collected 10,000 signatures backing their campaign.

The eastern coastal region attracts more Britons than any other part of Spain and is home to popular resorts such as Benidorm and Javea.
