THE English have scored another victory over the French – at the World Conker Championship today.
Not content with thrashing Les Bleus on their homeground at rugby yesterday, Englishman Ady Hurrell from Whittlesey, Cambs conquered Frenchman John Ingram at the nutty sport.

The championships, with 300 entrants, were held in the village of Ashton, Northamptonshire this afternoon.
And train driver Ady Hurrell steamed through his opponent, smashing his conker in just two shots.
However, Ingram doesn’t have quite the same French credentials as the likes of ‘Caveman’ rugby player Chabal – although an antiques dealer in Dordogne, he actually comes from Leighton Buzzard, Beds.
Mr Hurrell now wishes the English rugby the same sweet success he has enjoyed.
“It was a great win last night and I hope they go on to win the final just as I did,” he said.
