Judge clarifies Goodwin gag order

A privacy order preventing journalists publishing details about a "sexual relationship" former Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) boss Sir Fred Goodwin had with a work colleague does not stop financial regulators mounting "any sort" of inquiry, a High Court judge has said.

Mr Justice Tugendhat said the Financial Services Authority (FSA), the RBS board or any other regulator remained free to investigate.

The judge clarified the limitations of the injunction after explaining his reasons for lifting a ban which had prevented journalists from naming Sir Fred as the person who had applied for the order earlier this year.

He told lawyers during a High Court hearing in London: "Anybody who thought that the injunction was directed at preventing any sort of investigation, whether by the FSA, any other regulatory body or the board of the RBS, would be wholly mistaken."

Phillip Schofield Feels Sorry For Imogen Thomas

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield has admitted that he feels Imogen Thomas has been "hung out to dry" in the recent super injunction row.

Last month, it was revealed that the Big Brother star had an affair with a married Premier League footballer.

However, the sportsman took out an injunction to prevent his name from being released.

Schofield said: "I have to say right now, I've met Imogen Thomas, I've met her twice, and I think she is a very wronged woman.

"I think that she's been mistreated. She's been hung out to dry unfairly."

Schofield added that the does not think the man who must not be named will now win his lawsuit against twitter.

The footballer decided to sue the social network site after users revealed his identity.

He said: "It will be interesting to see what happens now. If the footballer involved manages to win in San Francisco it would be fascinating.

"I don't think there's a cat in hell's chance of that happening. It's a very difficult thing to police.

"But it has been fascinating to read, and I've been so tempted to say stuff that I know I'm not allowed to."

He added: "I think everyone who knows - which is everyone, which is just everyone! It's extraordinary.

"I've never quite witnessed anything like this before. But it will be very interesting to see how this plays out."
