Michael Le Vell Rebailed

Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell has been rebailed over allegations that he sexually abused a schoolgirl.

The actor, who plays mechanic Kevin Webster in the ITV1 soap, was arrested in September on suspicion of committing a historic sexual offence.

Le Vell, 46, from Hale, Cheshire, was later released on bail until tomorrow (Wednesday) pending further inquiries but has now been rebailed as the investigations continue.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: "A 46-year-old man arrested on suspicion of committing a historic sexual offence has been rebailed until the second week of January as police continue their investigations."

Last month, the actor issued a statement which said: "I strenuously deny these allegations and will do everything in my power to prove my innocence."

The star, whose real name is Michael Turner, is married to actress Janette Beverley. The couple have two children.

Coronation Street Actor Cleared Of Charges

Coronation Street actor Michael Le Vell has been cleared of child sex allegations.

The actor, who has played mechanic Kevin Webster in the soap for 28 years, was arrested and interviewed after allegations of a sexual assault were made against him, allegedly having taken place a number of years ago.

But today police confirmed that after their investigation lawyers decided there was not enough evidence to charge him.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “No further action will be taken against a 46-year-old male from Hale, arrested on suspicion of an historic sexual assault.

“A file of evidence was prepared for the Crown Prosecution Service, who decided there was insufficient evidence to charge.”
