Jeremy Clarkson and Ukip are not mavericks, but the bullying face of the establishment
The discussion about whether Clarkson is personally racist is a sideshow. He is part of a group seeking not only to put a brake on social progress, but to drag us backwards

Ukip's candidate in the Newark byelection, Roger Helmer, has attempted to clarify his controversial comments on rape, saying no blame should be attached to the victim but women should take reasonable care not to put themselves in danger of the crime – in the same way that people going on holiday should lock their front door. guardian.com

YouTube, the Daily Telegraph and the Guardian have announced they are making a joint bid to host a leaders' debate before next year's General Election.

Such a debate, broadcast online, would be free of the rules on balance which broadcasters such as the BBC, ITV and Sky have to follow,

This government's privatisation revolution is accelerating at breakneck speed. In just the first three months of this year, the value of public-sector outsourcing has shot up by 168%, as monitored by the specialist Arvato's outsourcing index. A quarter of these contracts went to offshore companies – state funds flying abroad, of no benefit to UK employment or tax revenues. From prisons to the NHS, from the work programme for the unemployed to running military bases, from training RAF pilots to Serco's management of Yarl's Wood immigration removal centre,"the outsourcing industry is in good health", reports Arvato.

Come my revolution, the apathetic will get their say
In the 2015 general election the disaffected should get a none-of-the-above box to tick. They are the biggest demographic

Knives Out for Miliband

Image

The Shadow Cabinet are sharpening their knives. One Shadow minister tells the Sindy: “Miliband has got to go. He’s damaged goods, he’s not a Prime Minister,” helpfully adding that “he’s odd-looking and is a bit weird”.

Andrew Rawnsley quotes a Shadow Cabinet minister’s verdict that: “the campaign made it all about Ed. That was not sensible.” Another admits in the Sunday Telegraph: “there are people in the country who quite regularly say he is a problem”. A view shared by another Labour MP: “I did not meet a single voter who said anything positive about Ed Miliband out of all the hundreds whose door I knocked on”.

Then to top it all oil painting muse Diane Abbott went on the Sunday Politics to lay into her leader’s staff and note that “no-one is going to confuse Ed Miliband with George Clooney any time soon”. Which is just mean.
