Former Fame Academy star Peter Brame was today banned from the roads after admitting drink-driving.
Singer Brame, 25, who shot to temporary stardom when he came fourth in the BBC's Fame Academy talent show last year, appeared before Colchester magistrates charged with one count of drink-driving.
Prosecuting, Sharon Moore told the court police had been called to deal with a non-injury accident in Queen Street, Colchester, at about 1.50am on Wednesday, October 13.
Representing himself, Brame, of Tudor Croft, Eastwood Drive, Colchester, apologised to the court.
He said: "I'm not in the habit of drink-driving."
He told the bench he had had some food and he felt okay to drive.
Magistrates disqualified Brame from driving for 16 months and fined him £150.
When offered the drink-drive rehabilitation scheme, which could have reduced the length of his ban, Brame told the court: "It's not going to happen again. I don't need to learn about drink-driving."
