THE X Factor clash between LEONA LEWIS and RAY QUINN is shaping up to be the reality TV equivalent of the FA Cup Final.

It’s got all the hallmarks of a classic match — the underdog from the North taking on the big gun from the South — just like a Cup Final between Liverpool and Chelsea.

The battle lines have been drawn and both sides are desperate to take home the trophy on Saturday.

Grandad had Ray in tears
13/12/06
X FACTOR hopeful Ray Quinn has revealed why he blubbed his eyes out in front of the nation upon reaching this weekend’s showdown final.

Scouser Ray broke down in tears after TV millions had watched him sing Liverpool FC’s anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone on Saturday.

And yesterday he was mobbed performing a set at a Liverpool shopping centre.

Afterwards he revealed his eyes had welled up because the famous Anfield song was his late grandad’s favourite.

Ray, 18, said: “I would just have loved him to have seen me singing it for him on telly.

“I knew I was getting emotional and it was embarrassing crying on stage.
“I tried to turn around and compose myself, but I couldn’t.

“When I sang it and then looked at my family in the audience, they were all there crying too. It just hit me and I broke up.”

Ray will go head-to-head in the X Factor final on Saturday against rival Leona Lewis, 21, with his proud mum Val, 57, and dad Ray Snr, pictured right, looking on in support.

He added: “When you’re in an X Factor bubble you don’t realise the amount of support you’ve got out there.

“It’s great that I’ve got all that Liverpool support and that so many people have voted for me.”

Hundreds of fans turned out in the city to hear him perform a string of hits, including the Queen classic Crazy Little Thing Called Love.dailysnack
