People buying presents for Mum put Ray Quinn at the top
YOU COULD call it the Mother's Day factor. Ray Quinn, the baby-faced 19-year-old from Liverpool who melted the hearts of women of a certain age during last year's X Factor contest, is set to top the album charts today and become the biggest-selling artist of the year.
The former child actor's self-titled swing album was released on Monday, the same day as rival X Factor finalist Ben Mills's album Picture Of You, in a bid to cash in on the sales race that has become a feature of Mothering Sunday in recent years.
According to the latest figures Quinn is outselling Mills two to one. The self-styled Rat Packer is expected to achieve sales of around 150,000 for his album, which features big-band hits such as Ain't That A Kick In The Head, Fly Me To The Moon and Mack The Knife.
