Cheryl Cole has said that being on X Factor helped to transform her life.

The Girls Aloud singer - who was hit by allegations that husband Ashley was cheating - said: "I had got into such a deep hole of badness - a lot of negative stuff.

"Until X Factor there was this thing that I was the gobby bitch of the band.

"Yes, I'm opinionated, but I wasn't this person I was reading about."
