X Factor bosses are considering bringing the final forward a week to avoid another Christmas number one chart battle.
Joe McElderry was beaten by Rage Against The Machine after a Facebook campaign to stop another X Factor Christmas number one saw US rock band sell over 50,000 more copies.
Producers are now debating whether to have an earler final to allow the winner's song a better chance of making it to the top of the charts.
According to mid-week sales this week Joe McElderry is outselling Rage Against The Machine 2:1
According to The Sun a source said: "If a show that gets 19 million viewers can't muster enough support to beat an online campaign of music snobs, then maybe there is no point aiming for a Christmas number one next year."
In other X Factor news, Simon Cowell is said to be eager to recruit Robbie Williams as a fifth judge.
