Has anyone seen this advertised on ITV1? It's a new thing Simon Cowell is doing, it's kind of like Pop Idol but for any ages from 16+! I've gone for it it sounds good cos bands can go for it too which is cool!!

Ha Ha! I don't think it will be as good as Pop Idol it will be more based around Simon Cowell throwing insults!

Music mogul Simon Fuller has launched legal action against TV host Simon Cowell, claiming his X Factor ITV1 show copies his Pop Idol format.
Fuller's company 19 TV, which created Pop Idol and American Idol, is taking action against producer FremantleMedia, Cowell and his firms Simco and Syco.

"19 TV will be pressing for a speedy trial to resolve the matters as swiftly as is possible," a 19 spokesman said.

FremantleMedia denied the claim, while Cowell branded it "utterly ridiculous".

19 is claiming breach of contract and breach of copyright.

Myself and my (gerbil mommy) daughter watch it....it was a bit drawn out at first..but they are down to the final 9 now - live show next week. In Sharon Osborne's words the finalists are a bit of a 'motley crew'.

The judges eliminated some people whom they acknowledged to be more talented/professional etc, in favour of people whom they knew the public would warm to...so you have a 50 year old (who looks darn good, by the way), who sacrificed her career for her marriage to a husband who didn't appreciate her, another guy who never thought he'd get past the first audition, a fantastic singer who they keep saying is 'insane', an Irish guy who seems to have got it because he was cheeky and Sharon couldn't resist him - but he forgets the words of the songs. Also a trio of soul singers, mother & daughter & aunt, who are brilliant singers, but who kind of messed up their final audition. There's a male quartet who most have been influenced by the Kings Singers. There's a very slick young girl of about 16 who has a great voice, plus a gorgeous Irish girl...in fact in the 16-24 age group, 2 out of the 3 finalists came from the Dublin audition...

Next week they sing live, and Simon Cowell, the lovely Sharon (she is), and the smarmy (also Irish, but so am I) Louis Walsh will get to comment on them...and the public get to decide who goes and who stays...

..oh and Terry from the Salon is on Sharon's team, as the 'stylist'...

and Linda Martin (also Irish) was working with Louis in making his choices.

Rowetta's got the X Factor

Quote:
FORMER Happy Mondays star Rowetta Satchell is the 3/1 favourite to win ITV1 talent show The X Factor.

The feisty mum of two, 38, who is down to the final nine, will sing live to the nation on Saturday.

Bookies William Hill make her the favourite with Irish lad Tabby Callaghan at 4/1 and opera band G4 at 5/1.

I am really enjoying it, I didn't like the 2nd series of pop idol much but I think this is wonderful!

Rowetta to win, she is pure fantastic!

she is so mental though, such a drama queen - when she first came in I didn't think she's have that good a voice but it's brilliant! I can see her going all the way, as long as none of the groups win because I don't think any of them are all that good personally.
