What with all the Dannii/Danyl drama, everyone seems to be forgetting something here - Robbie was rubbish!
Last night was billed as his big comeback. The return of the legend. The multi-million record selling megastar.
But where was the showman we all used to know and love? Where was the unpredictable entertainer?
Instead what we got was a washed-up, slightly desperate, slightly podgy, average singer, hoping we'd all still love him, practically in tears that he got so much as a round of applause.
"I'm made up," he said, after his performance, grinning like a maniac. "I love it, I love it."
Well, sorry Robbie, but I didn't. He didn't look like the superstar he used to be. The song was forgettable. Newcomer Alexandra had more wow-factor in her performance. In fact, half the contestants sang his songs better than him - perhaps even those terrible twerp twins John and Edward. I still can't bear them but at least they provided some laughs.
I reckon if Robbie did that performance as an X Factor contestant, Simon would have told him to go back to singing karaoke in pubs and Cheryl would have suggested he pick a different song next time.
I hope the rumours of Robbie going back to Take That aren't true. They're better off without him.
