FACTOR winner Steve Brookstein triumphed by almost two-and-a-half million votes, it emerged yesterday.

The singer, who scooped a £1million recording contract, led the way for most of Saturday night's show.

Of the 8.4 million votes polled, 5.4 million were for Steve. He got 64 per cent of the vote, while rivals G4 managed 36 per cent.
