Corrie actress Debra Stephenson, who plays desperate housewife Frankie Baldwin, has emerged as an early favourite to win Celebrity Fame Academy.

Debra is 2-1 to win the Beeb's charity contest, ahead of EastEnders' Sam Hunter (Kim Medcalf) who betting website Paddy Power has at 3-1.

Impressionist John Culshaw and Casualty's Christopher Colquhoun are tied at 6-1, while poor old TV presenter Nick Knowles is the outside bet at 14-1.

Adrian Edmondson has drawn first blood in the battle of the comics, coming in at 8-1 ahead of Pub Landlord Al Murray who Paddy Power has priced at 12-1.

The Beeb has signed a total of 12 celebrities to take part in the talent contest, as part of this year's Comic Relief.

Former Hollyoaks heartthrob Will Mellor won the first Celebrity Fame Academy, although the endearing memory for most viewers would have been the ear-battering performances of Ruby Wax.
