Where is he now? Steve’s debut single - a cover of Phil Collins' Against All Odds - got to No.1 after he announced his intention to give away the “profits” (ie the handful of coppers left over after Cowell took his wedge) to the tsunami appeal. His career has been on a downwards trajectory ever since, and last month he threatened to quit pop if music bosses forced him to release any more covers. Earlier this week, it emerged that his record company had dropped him because of disappointing album sales.
