X Factor Betting Odds - Nicholas Gone, Who'll Win?
So Nicholas Dorsett has been eliminated from X Factor, after a less than thrilling off-key shout-out with The Conway Sisters, who are still inexplicably part of the competition.
If we're honest, seeing Nicolas leave X Factor came as no shock - his narcoleptic mumblings haven't really gone anywhere since day one - or at least it wouldn't have, if he was up against anyone else but The Conway Sisters, who now seem to be crying and shrieking instead of actually singing.
But now that Nicholas has disappeared from our radar forever, are we any closer to discovering an X Factor winner? Here are the latest betting odds to win X Factor, with help from Betfair.com...
The Conway Sisters - That The Conway Sisters made it through to next week's round surprised just about everyone on Saturday, not least Simon Cowell. And by making them sing first after last week's events, he was effectively washing his hands of them. Slagging them off later made it a little more explicit, too. The Conway Sisters chose One Moment In Time to sing - perhaps the most needlessly bombastic song ever written. They even roped in the hefty one to shout the important bits. But the song was hopelessly out of tune and we're certain they'll go next week. Which means they won't win, obviously. Current odds - 95
Chico Slimari - It's finally happened: Chico has actually run out of gormless party tunes to sing, and so on Saturday he wrote and performed one of his own - It's Chico Time. And it was so brilliantly braindead that we couldn't help but be impressed. All he basically did was sing his own name over and over again and then watched while a bunch of kids bodypopped. It was perhaps the dumbest performance of the night, and he won a lot new new fans from it. He spoilt it slightly by talking about "finding the child within," afterwards. But where does he go from here? Probably not winning X Factor, that's for sure. Current odds - 13.5
Brenda Edwards - By the look of things, Brenda spent the entirety of last week crying her eyes out because Simon Cowell doesn't fancy her very much. But on Saturday Brenda pulled herself together long enough to sing some old disco bullshit which sounded more like the theme-tune to a crappy gameshow than an actual song. We'll admit she did it very well, though. But can she win X Factor? Doubtful. Current odds - 12
Journey South - There must be some kind of mass-hypnosis going on. Journey South absolutely murdered Angels on Saturday, and they're still front-runners to win X Factor. Everything about their performance was abysmal: the way the non-guitary one kept shouting "Yo!" before the choruses, all the OTT yelling, the bad diction... and people still like them. Maybe choosing such an obvious song helped them, we're not sure. Despite being awful bad terrible bad shouty bad buskers, we wouldn't be surprised if Journey South make it to the X Factor final. Current odds - 4.7
Andy Abraham - This is our exact thought process every time Andy sings: "Hmm, he still looks like a prawn"... "Oh, nice song choice"... "Wait a minute, he's just doing an impression of whoever sang the original version"... "Hey, that wasn't too bad"... "Oh, stop talking to Kate Thornton about your fans, you hopeless binman idiot." And that's exactly what we thought on Saturday. Andy's starting to drop back from Shayne in the betting odds, but who's to say he can't pull it back? Current odds - 3.7
Shayne Ward - Sneaky song choice this week: a Take That song in the same week as Take That were on TV and in all the newspapers. Sadly, it backfired a little - it seems as if nobody checked with Shayne whether he could pronounce the word "million". He couldn't, by the way, which spoilt the effect of him singing a song called Million Love Songs. But aside from that, he did OK. It was a pleasantly sung song, if a bit of a snooze. He's still favourite to win the competition, though. Current odds - 2.74
