11 November 2005 DailyRecord EXCLUSIVE Debut release by X Factor star By Rick Fulton FORMER goatherd Chico Slimani is favourite to be booted off The X Factor tomorrow - but has already recorded his debut single, It's Chico Time. It's the third week in a row that Chico has been favourite to go. But whatever happens, Chico Time,named after the 34-year-old's catchphrase, will be ready for release. Grammy-winning producer Mark Hudson,54,who helps Chico's mentor Sharon Osbourne behind the scenes, has written the track. And he'll play it to Simon Cowell in an attempt to get it released. Mark said: "My idea is to go in and play the track to Simon and he'll either kick me down the stairs or he'll say, 'Marky you're a genius, let's release it'. "It's not a joke tune and I don't see Chico as a novelty act. He can sing and he's got things to say spiritually, so it's going to be a legitimate record." Mark describes the track as a cross between classic Aerosmith and Wild Cherry's Play That Funky Music (White Boy). Thechorusgoes:"Youcan get delirious, if you take life too serious, it's Chico TimeMark added: "It's a song that says, 'Look at your life and look in the mirror - there's a party going on.' "It doesn't matter if you're short, tall, fat, black, white, red - look at yourself and say life can be fun. "When Chico is dancing and singing, the whole audience is having fun. "They can hate him, that's up to them, but everyone has a smile on their face |
