X Faxtor Judge Walks Out

Music mogul SIMON COWELL and reality TV star SHARON OSBOURNE's co-judge on British TV talent show THE X FACTOR has quit after allegedly being bullied by his colleagues.

LOUIS WALSH, the mastermind behind a string of hit UK artists including Irish boyband WESTLIFE, has stormed out of the show after repeated insults from acid-tongued Cowell and fellow judge Osbourne got out of hand.
Saturday's (19NOV05) programme saw a seething Osbourne throw three glasses of water over her colleague after a snide comment about her rocker husband OZZY.

Walsh has also been slammed by the British press for booting favourite-to-win contestant MARIA LAWSON from the show in favour of an Irish girl group who he was friends with.

He says, "I've been totally humiliated and undermined by both of them. This has caused me nothing but stress.

"The final straw was Sharon with the water and being booed by the audience - and then Simon Cowell saying I was an idiot and stupid. femalefirst

great news the programme has become a farce anyway and does nothing but damage to the contestants none of them will amount to anything if the reality shows of the past are anything to go by only will young has become any major force in the business, the rest have gone by due to bad management and hype. ()^ They just play with peoples lives and then discard them,

Livid Louis walks out on The X Factor
By Nicola Methven, TV Editor and Fiona Cummins

LOUIS Walsh has quit The X Factor after a furious bust-up with fellow judges Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne.

The Westlife manager walked out after Cowell gave a scathing interview to This Morning, in which he branded Walsh "stupid".

Last night, Louis told the Mirror: "I am constantly humiliated and undermined. I've had enough."

Cowell, whose company Syco co-produces the series, said he couldn't understand Louis's decision to leave when the programme is doing so well in the ratings.

He revealed he'd even said sorry for the bitchy comments - but his apology fell on deaf ears. Simon said: "Louis and Sharon have called me plenty of things, but I take in the spirit in which it is intended.

"The three of us are all very opinionated - we don't hold back.

"That's one of the reasons behind the show's success. I'm sorry I've upset Louis and I've apologised." The final straw for the Irish judge came when Cowell poked fun at him on daytime TV on Monday.

He told This Morning that he was considering replacing Louis on the show - but couldn't find anyone dull enough to take over.

He said: "The real trouble is finding somebody bland enough to replace Louis. Where do you start?

"It's hard being stupid. It's definitely not as easy as it looks. But Louis does it brilliantly.

Cowell also branded Louis an idiot in a newspaper interview.

He said: "Louis is an idiot, he has been tremendously stupid.

"He came into this competition bragging that he had the winner - that he had the show all sewn up. But with the wrong song choices and the wrong management, Louis has managed to muck it all up."

Cowell's attacks came after an incident during Saturday's show, in which Sharon poured a glass of water over Walsh's head. The background to the fall-out was Walsh's controversial decision to save The Conway Sisters over Maria Lawson the previous week.

A TV source told the Mirror that Louis, 53, has been feeling desperately left out on the programme.

They explained: Louis isn't having the greatest time. Last year it was him and Sharon against Simon, but this year Sharon and Simon seem to be taking sides.

"He was stuck for words when she threw the water at him and got angry when one of the floor managers tried to get him some dry clothes."

Critics say the judges are hogging the limelight. Mirror TV reviewer Jim Shelley dubbed it "more stage-managed than WWF wrestling".

Louis signed up for the second series despite moaning last year that his fellow judges earned more.

If he does not change his mind and return by the weekend, he will lose out on £300,000. The show's grand final is on December 17.

Its a very successful publicity stunt.

Its to get people tuning in on Saturday to see if hes there, because SCD has been beating it in the ratings.

Louis Walsh is a ruthless businessman and has been in the pop music industry for years he must've been in the firing line many times in his career, if he genuinely has been upset by whats been said he's pathetic, and I feel a bit sorry for Shayne (even though I cant stand the kid).

Personally I see it as nothing more than a poor OTT publicity stunt - but it's got people talking about the show I guess

EXCLUSIVE : LOU-TURN

Walsh WILL go back on X Factor... then quit at the end of this series
By Fiona Cummins and Nicola Methven

LOUIS Walsh has been lured back to The X Factor - but only on the condition he can quit at the end of this series.

The Irish music mogul walked out on Tuesday, yet changed his mind just 24 hours later.

But insiders revealed Louis is still far from happy and Simon Cowell will release him from a clause in his contract tying him to a third series of the ITV show.

A TV source said: "Louis's decision to walk out threw everyone into a state of panic and the show's bosses were holding crisis talks to work out ways to persuade him to return.

"Both Louis and Sharon Osbourne have contractual agreements to appear in next year's series, if there is one, but Simon agreed to release him.

"Simon begged Louis not to quit because he didn't want it to have a negative impact on the show.

"It has also been pointed out to Louis that he would be in breach of contract if he just doesn't bother to turn up."

Walsh has felt "bullied" by Cowell and Osbourne in recent weeks. He has apparently requested they stop hurling insults at him.

Sharon threw three glasses of water over him during last week's show and the final straw was when Cowell branded him "stupid" in a scathing interview on ITV1's This Morning programme. But tension between the judges had been building since Walsh voted to ditch Maria Lawson in favour of Irish group The Conway Sisters.

This Morning's TV expert Sharon Marshall, who spoke to Walsh yesterday, said: "He's in bits. This is genuine.

"He's in Dublin. He feels like he's been bullied by the show's management. He feels like he's been belittled and that every week he is being made fun of.

"He said it's not acting, not pantomime what is happening on the stage."

Sinitta, one of the experts working alongside Cowell, said: "I haven't spoken to Louis.

"I don't think he's talking to anyone at the moment.

"Simon is shocked Louis got so upset. We know he was irritated and wanted to take some time out, but we're genuinely shocked he would go this far. Louis has a great sense of humour but he's sensitive.

"He hasn't been himself since the Maria/Conways situation.

"He was genuinely torn and people are coming up to him in the street and saying he's out of order. But it's a show and he's entitled to his opinion."

She added: "Simon respects Louis more than any other manager in the country. He's steered Westlife to meteoric heights.

"Louis is one of Simon's closest friends - that's why he works with him in the show - but when you're competing in that environment things kick off.

"Louis is needing to take some time out at the moment.

"Simon doesn't want Louis to be hurt. I think he does realise that Louis is very sensitive.

"I'm sure Simon will be contacting him and saying, 'I'm sorry, if I've gone too far'.

"It's just his sense of humour and Louis has had enough."

ITV said: "We're talking to Louis and hope we'll be able to persuade him to return to the show on Saturday."
