26 November 2005 Mirror By Fiona Cummins, Showbiz Reporter, And Paul Martin LOUIS Walsh warned yesterday he would quit The X Factor for good if he is picked on again. The stressed Irish music mogul returned to the show on Thursday after walking out 24 hours earlier claiming he was being humiliated by fellow judges Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne. He said: "I want assurances from the producers they will not humiliate me any more or I won't hesitate to walk again. It's in their hands." As he flew in from Dublin to London to meet the show bosses yesterday, Walsh added: "It's been a week from hell. I was seriously considering never coming back. "I've had sleepless nights. I'm actually taking sleeping tablets to get some rest." He said that he was only returning to help his final contestant Shayne Ward win the ITV 1 show. "My heart says get out but my head tells me to see it through for his sake," he said. But Cowell, furious because Walsh's behaviour this week threw the show into doubt, said he is not bothered whether or not he turns up tonight. He said: "It's very simple. I've apologised to Louis. If he turns up, he turns up. If he doesn't, he doesn't. I'm now focusing on the contestants, as we all should. Tension has been rising since Walsh, 53, controversially voted to ditch Maria Lawson in favour of Irish group The Conway Sisters. Sharon threw three glasses of water over him on last week's show, then Cowell branded him "stupid" in an interview on ITV1's This Morning. Walsh was angry his 75-year-old mum in the audience witnessed his drenching and has asked the pair to stop hurling insults and bullying him. Sharon is said to be feeling guilty about her treatment of Walsh. Daughter Kelly said: "My mum is distraught to see Louis so upset - he is genuinely very hurt. She's been trying to call him to sort it out." Irish President Mary McAleese had a message of support for Walsh when she told him "everyone in Ireland" was backing him. |

27 November 2005 People I'M BEING BULLIED! DEFIANT X Factor judge Louis Walsh vowed last night: "I will not be bullied by Simon Cowell." And he hasn't forgiven Sharon Osbourne for throwing water over him - because he could have been ELECTROCUTED. Louis appeared to have patched up his differences with his fellow judges when he returned to the ITV talent show last night after quitting earlier in the week because Cowell branded him "stupid". Simon, who manages Westlife, Girls Aloud and G4, added: "It was not a publicity scam. He was trying to take my name. "What really annoyed me and what really hurt me was that he was trying to make me look bad as a manager. "I did talk to Simon - he did text me, he did apologise and told me he didn't mean it and blah blah blah. "But I'll have more records in the charts this Christmas than they ever will have." Louis also revealed he still hasn't forgiven Sharon for throwing three glasses of water over him on the live show last Saturday. He was so furious with her he felt like HITTING her. Louis said: "It was very dangerous what Sharon did. My screen in front of me went off. That means there was water in it. There was an awful lot more water than people think. "But what could I do? I wasn't going to hit Sharon on TV or do anything naughty." Louis, 53, says his main reason for returning to the show is to be there for his remaining contestant Shayne Ward. He believes the 20-year-old from Manchester can go far. Louis said: "I think he's going to be a fantastic star even if he doesn't win." An X Factor spokesman said: "Simon has apologised and as far as he is concerned that is the end of it." But in an exclusive interview with The People, band supremo Louis said: "I was always the fall guy for them and I'm not doing it any more. "I'm not going to be bullied by anybody like that. I was never bullied all my life so I'm not going to start now. "I just felt I was being bullied in public and it was two against one and it wasn't fair. Simon was taking my name and that really affected me as a manager." |
