I'm delighted for him. He's been consistently excellent throughout the series - a very worthy winner. I absolute love his voice. Still won't buy the single though
(I did vote mind you!) |

not that the judges were biased or anything in their comments though! they might as well have held up a big sign saying "we want shayne to win". but then, really, no-one loses. Simon and Louie get lots of money, Sharon's got loads anyway, and all three final acts will make money. So will some of the others. got to admit as well, Shayne IS sexy though...and he has a really good voice. Hope things go well for him |

| Post subject: | Shayne takes X Factor |
SHAYNE WARD beat underdog Andy Abraham to be crowned X Factor champion in a nailbiting finale on Saturday night. The Manchester heart-throb, 21, won the title thanks to his army of female fans. But it could not have been closer as he beat binman Andy by just 1.2 per cent with an amazing 10.8 MILLION votes cast. Shayne dedicated his victory to his mother Philomena, saying: “This is for you mum, this is for you.” After hearing the result, he hugged his fellow contestant Andy and said: “Thank you so much everybody.” And he told show judge Louis Walsh, who has backed him: “I owe you everything.” Walsh said: “He is a star.” Defeated finalist Andy said: “He is a worthy winner. He is a star. He deserves to be number one.” Despite his new-found fame, the former shop assistant has vowed to stay faithful to girlfriend Faye McKeever. He said: “We sat down and had a conversation about what would happen if I did get girls coming up to me. “The producers had warned me that there would be temptation. And I told her she’d have to understand. But I can fight temptation.” Shayne added: “It’s not about the money. It’s about making my mum happy and making my family proud." He now hopes to emulate the career of his idol Robbie Williams. He said: “Robbie is all about entertaining people and that’s what I want to do.” Winning the show will turn Shayne into an overnight millionaire. He picks up a £1million recording contract and looks a certainty for the Christmas number one with the song That's My Goal, which was recorded by all three X Factor finalists. Within minutes of his victory the CD single was being pressed and is expected to hit shops nationwide by Wednesday morning. Bookies had made the X Factor a two-horse race between Shayne and duo Journey South. But the public proved them wrong as, incredibly, presenter Kate Thornton revealed that underdog Andy Abraham had been the first person voted through to the sing-off. That left stunned Shayne and Journey South on tenterhooks until it finally it was announced that the brothers from Middlesbrough, Carl and Andy Pemberton had been eliminated. Six million votes were cast in the first part of the show and almost another five million after the three finalists had been whittled down to two. The race was neck and neck between the two acts, with both leading at some stage in the evening. In the first part of the final, Shayne sang Over the Rainbow, When a Child is Born and Daniel Bedingfield's hit If You're Not the One. Andy sang O Holy Night, When a Man Loves a Woman and Me and Mrs Jones. Journey South performed Happy Xmas (War is Over), Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me and Let It Be. TheSUN |

| Post subject: | Shayne wins X Factor then heads off to gay club to celebrate |
18-Dec-2005 Shayne Ward has won the television talent contest X Factor by a margin of just 1.2 percent over rival Andy Abraham. Immediately after being announced the winner, he headed straight off to a live performance at London's largest gay night club. Shayne Ward dedicated his victory to his mother Philomena saying: "this is for you mum, this is for you.” Thanking his champion backer, the music impresario Louis Walsh he said: "I owe you everything!" His first engagement was to play to a sell out crowd at G-A-Y, one of the largest gay night clubs in London. Hundreds of fans braved the blistering cold to secure tickets to the concert. Despite being a gay club, many of those attempting to secure tickets where part of his growing fan club of teenage girls. Shayne's prize for topping the telephone poll is a £1 million recording contract and the opportunity to challenge other top acts for the coveted Christmas number one spot, with a single. I thought Shayne's choice of songs was dodgy (well - not If I'm not the One, cos it was his previous best performance). But I was totally blown away by his version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow - WHAT a version! And as for the single - although Andy sang his version very well, it was much more suited to a young guy like Shayne. He looked and sounded the part, as far as the pop charts are concerned. Have to say that all three final acts saved their best till the final night. |

| Post subject: | Punters cash in on reality shows |
ITV 9.09AM, Sun Dec 18 2005 Punters will share a large six-figure payout following the finals of the X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing reality shows. Heart-throb Shayne Ward, the bookies' favourite, beat binman Andy Abraham after millions voted him the winner of ITV1's talent show The X Factor. He won a lucrative recording contract and now looks set to grab the all-important top spot at Christmas with his first single, That's My Goal. Cricket star Darren Gough danced his way to victory to become the first male winner of BBC1's Strictly Come Dancing while DJ Zoe Ball, who was bookies favourite to win for most of the series, finished in third place. William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: "It's hit us hard, and even worse, we are expecting Shayne punters to pile on for him to have the Christmas number one now. "The X Factor winner has been the strong favourite for the Christmas top spot since they announced the release of the single and there won't be much Christmas cheer in our offices if we get hit on that too." Mr Adams added: "Darren Gough was second favourite for Strictly Come Dancing, so his win has slightly eased the pain of Shayne's payout. But recent support in the book suggested he was well fancied for the title and it's no surprise for us - or the punters - to see him win." |

The main reason I didnt want Shayne to win is his vile family will now live off his talent. He is very talented and good looking its just a shame his family scandels may let him down! If Louis had said one more time "he wants this it will change his life" I was gonna switch off, after all Andy & JS also wanted it and couldve changed their lives too! Still think Brenda shouldve won but she wouldnt have as it seemed a given Shayne would win from day one! |

I agree I thought his family were total chavs and the way Simon was endorsing Shane saying he had the X factor blah blah I thought it was a total fix. As soon as Brenda went the week before (there is NO WAY she should have not made it to the final) I just thought it was rigged in Shanes favour. well done to him and all that but I honestly thought Brenda was the one that should have won it and I hope she goes on to get a record deal anyway. |
