IT looks like X Factor star CHICO is going to do the unthinkable and knock MADONNA off the top of the charts.
No it isn’t an April Fool's joke. The reality reject releases his debut single It’s Chico Time today and it is seriously being touted as a hot contender for No1.
The former goatherd even has a myriad of celebrity stars backing him all the way.
GWYNETH PALTROW name checked the singer on Radio 1, CHRIS MARTIN voiced his support at a COLDPLAY gig, and STROKES guitarist NICK VALENSI and ROBBIE WILLIAMS have leant their support.
But amazingly the ex-stripper still hasn’t told his mum Zahra.
Chico, who counts mentor SHARON OSBOURNE as one of his best pals, told me: “I’m becoming a household name and I love it.
“It’s my 15 minutes of fame, but I’m not counting it in minutes, I’m counting it in seconds and making the most of it — that’s Chico time!
“Coldplay and Robbie know who I am. Wow, it doesn’t get bigger than that. They are really credible artists. Robbie sent me a letter while I was at my lowest point on X Factor.
“He gave it to KATE THORNTON to pass on to me and it meant so much. I mean, Robbie Williams knows my music!
“Even SAMUEL L JACKSON knew who I was when I met him. I am so blessed.
“I get asked for my autograph everywhere I go. But my mum still doesn’t know anything about it.
“She lives in Belgium so she never saw X Factor. I’m going to invite her over to London to see me perform and watch her face. She’ll be so shocked.”
Chico Time comes out nine months after the Moroccan singer first auditioned for X Factor but he isn’t going to stop there.
As well as his single deal, the excitable Moroccan is releasing a fitness video and has written a movie with a special role for Sharon Osbourne.
He said: “We’re waiting to hear back from some Hollywood producers but hopefully we’ll start filming later this year.
“It will be called Lunch Box. Sharon’s part is an Arthur Daley style of club promoter — but sexy and feisty. She is really glamourous and only has eyes for one man. And yes, that could be me.”
But what Chico — who has notched up more than 1,500 conquests — really wants is to settle down, get married and have 50 Chico-ettes with the woman of his dreams
He told me: “I have a lady in mind but she lives abroad and doesn’t know it yet.”
Who could it be? Answers on a postcard please. . .
