Former X Factor contestant and one-time stripper Chico has shot to number one in the singles chart, outselling Madonna by a margin of two to one.

It's Chico Time toppled Madonna's single Sorry, which slipped into fourth place.

The song has also kept girl group the Pussycat Dolls at bay with their single Beep coming in at number two.

While Corinne Bailey Rae's single Put Your Records On falls to three, but her album tops the album chart.

California rockers Orson enter the charts at number five with No Tomorrow, while Thunder In My Heart Again from Meck featuring Leo Sayer slips from three to six.

Brit soft rockers The Feeling come in at number seven with their single Sewn while previous chart-toppers Notorious BIG, Diddy and Nelly slide to eight from five with Nasty Girl.

The final top 10 new entry comes from Colombian singer Shakira who is in at number nine with Don't Bother and Chris Brown ft Juelz Santana slips from seven to 10 with Run It.

In this week's album charts Jack Johnson's In Between Dreams falls from the number one spot into second place pushing the Arctic Monkeys into third place with their debut disc Whatever People Say I am That's What I'm Not.

OH my God, It's Chico Time. He is living the dream in the words of Chantelle, knocking Madonna off the top spot.

The X Factor loser also squeezed past The Pussycat Dolls - stopping them from their third No.1.

Another big hit with the Scots was latino goddess Shakira's comeback single Don't Bother - which made it to No.4, five places above the UK-wide singles chart.

After the band meet the pop chancer...

The Delays have blown Pop Idol star Chico’s cover - claiming he puts on his comedy accent.

The Valentine rockers met Chico – who claims to be a Welsh-Moroccan ex-goatherder – back stage at Top Of The Pops as he prepared to perform his new number one single 'It’s Chico Time'.

However, the band were shocked to discover the pop chancer conveniently lost his bizarre pigeon-English accent as soon as he was off screen.

Keyboardist Aaron tells the Daily Star, “He was slinking around backstage and was merrily chatting away to people in a broad London accent.

“I said ‘Hello’ to him and he was all ‘Alwight mate’. It’s weird.”

It's still Chico Time in the singles chart, with the X factor star spending his second week in the top spot with his debut song.

The singer fought off comptetition from Orson with No Tomorrow, which climbed up three places from five to two.

Pussycat Dolls were down to three with Beep, and Sugababes scored the highest new entry at four with Red Dress.

Kayne West was another new entry in at six with Touch The Sky, and Placebo went in at 13 with Because I Want You.

There wasn't such good news for Black Eyed Peas, who went in at number 16 with Pump It, closely followed by rapper Bow Wow in at 17 with Like You.

Craig David's Unbelievable was also a top 20 new entry at number 18.

In the album chart Corinne Bailey Rae was toppled by oldie rocker Dave Gilmour of the band Pink Floyd.

Jack Johnson moved down one to three with In Between Dreams, and Arctic Monkeys slipped two to five with Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not.
