Former X-Factor winner Steve Brookstein has again hit out at TV talent shows, Simon Cowell and recent winner, Shayne Ward.

The soul singer attacked the programme he won in 2004, saying: "It's a shame people vote so much and waste their money. It's all kind of a, bit of a scam."

He also revealed that he has not spoken to Simon Cowell "since I told him the album is not as good as I hoped."

He added: "Unless you do as your told, you're not his mate."

Speaking about this year's winner Shayne Ward, Brookstein said: "He seems like a nice guy and he works hard. I'm not a fan of the music...but then again, Shane's only young so he doesn't know what he wants, so he's just going along with the ride.

"Sooner or later he might develop into a serious artist, but right now he's just pop."

The singer was dropped after the release of his only single Against All Odds in 2005.

Steve comes across as very bitter. Ever since Will Young got the better of Cowell, I think he's been making sure that everyone else toes the line. Though Will kind of proved that he was right to retain his own identity.

Shayne is *just* pop - but it's worked for Boyzone, Westlife and countless others. I love his voice, but not that kind of music. But I wish Shayne well.

Oh - and I never liked Steve. I think that performing his *own* songs wouldn't have redeemed him, either!

 if you read steves comments properly he said it wasnt his cup of tea but wished him well. why shouldnt he want to do his own songs anyway hes quite happy the way things are and people thinking he is bitter is just media hype. hes a really nice bloke and so is shane I have met shane and he is a really nice person I wish them both well. although I do prefer steves music and his voice but that is my opinion as others might differ each to his own.
