WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
JUST HOW LONG WAS THEIR 15 MINUTES..
THE X Factor reaches the boot camp stage tonight, with the latest bunch of pop wannabes all praying it will be their ticket to everlasting glory.
But for some of those who sparkled on the many talent shows spawned by Popstars in 2000, their 15 minutes of fame was just that.

POPSTARS: THE RIVALS
GIRLS ALOUD
THE show pitted a girl band managed by Louis Walsh against a boy band guided by Pete Waterman. Girls Aloud won - hands down. They are now the UK's most successful all-girl group with 12 consecutive Top 10 hits and three best-selling albums.
The most high-profile band member is Cheryl Tweedy, 23, who married Chelsea's Ashley Cole this summer. She is also a favourite pin-up in lads' mags, as is 24-year-old Kimberley Walsh.
Lucky old Nadine Coyle, 21, is dating Desperate Housewives hunk Jesse Metcalfe. Nicola Roberts, 20, is still with her long-term boyfriend, Carl Egerton. Sarah Harding, 24, is the only singleton...
Javine Hylton, 24, who just failed to make it into Girls Aloud, launched a solo career with mixed success. She has just signed a new record deal with dance label Positiva and is currently starring in Daddy Cool in the West End.
ONE TRUE VOICE
THEIR two singles both made it into the Top 10, but the boys disbanded shortly afterwards - fed-up with being a laughing stock.
Daniel Pearce, 27, has achieved most since then. He made his West End debut in Jailhouse Rock and worked as a drummer with Lemar, Delta Goodrem and Brian McFadden.
Jamie Shaw, 21, has appeared on Welsh reality TV show Cariad@Laith and spent the last year gigging in Germany. Anton Gordon, 23, and Matthew Johnson, 20, both auditioned for The X Factor, but failed to make the boot camp.
CLEA
FOUR of the girl band rejects got together as Clea, but they have failed to take off.
Still, Lynsey Brown, 23, Aimee Kearsley, 20, and Emma Beard, 22, are soldiering on. Their latest effort, Lucky Like That, released independently last June, only made it to No.55. And their album reached the dire position of No.258.
Fourth member Chloe Staines, 22, sensibly deserted the sinking ship early on and joined rival band Fierce. That didn't last long either.
PHIXX
FORMED from the rejected finalists, Phixx had limited success before splitting up last year.
They are still popular abroad, especially in South Africa where there is talk of them taking part in Celebrity Big Brother.
None are currently in the music biz. Peter Smith, 29, was last heard of working in a bank. Nikk Mager, 22, and Mikey Green, 25 - famous for a romance with Girls Aloud's Sarah Harding - have both enjoyed success as male models.
