This week, there was no-sing off and with the lowest public votes, The MacDonald Brothers left the show.

Having stayed out of the bottom two all series (despite constant criticsm from Simon Cowell), tonight they failed to secure enough public votes.

The McDougals (as Simon calls them) seem very sweet.

Ironically I think this years X factor has actually lacked anyone with the x factor so it's possibly the worst series to date.

THE MacDonald Brothers crashed out of the show last night. The Scots pair failed to impress with their version of Barry Manilow's I Can't Smile Without You.

Simon Cowell called it "the worst performance yet" - and LAUGHED as rival judge Louis Walsh's act were axed.

Cowell later made light of his spat with Louis, saying: "There's no hard feelings."

A bitter Louis told presenter Kate Thornton: "I won last year,"

before adding: "These guys are going to have a big future."

I was actually hoping Ben would go. He might be a great singer but I find him a bit slimy. The McDougals (as Simon calls them) seem very sweet. Ironically I think this years X factor has actually lacked anyone with the x factor so it's possibly the worst series to date.

It was fun while it lasted. But although Leona isn't particularly 'different', she is immensely talented and the judges have been totally impressed by her. Perhaps she could have success on both sides of the Atlantic. Do they mean 'X' factor in the sense of something new and original, or 'X' factor in the sense of excellence? If it's the latter, then Leona couldn't be faulted.

03/12/2006 - 12:53:01 PM Brothers upbeat despite X-Factor departure The MacDonald Brothers remain upbeat despite not being offered a record deal by their mentor Louis Walsh on the X Factor. Brian and Craig MacDonald, both 20, from Ayr, lost out to Ben Mills in the ITV1 show last night. Although Walsh offered Liverpool boyband Eton Road a record deal live on air last week, he did not do the same for the harmonising duo. “Just because he hasn’t made it public doesn’t mean it’s not true,” Craig said the morning after. “We have faith in Louis and we have faith he’ll point us in the right direction. We just need to wait and see.” The brothers said they were happy to have got so far in the competition, which reaches its semi-final stage next week. “We’re over the moon to have come fourth,” Brian said. “It’s a respectable position and we’re really proud of what we achieved.” But they insisted they would keep focused on their music career and not be distracted by attention from female fans. 4 December 2006 LOU OUT TO BEAT COWELL LOUIS Walsh is backing Ben Mills to win the X-Factor - because he wants Simon Cowell's acts to lose. Walsh is fuming over Cowell's comments about The Mac- Donald Brothers who were ousted on Saturday - meaning he no longer has an act in the competition. Now he wants Sharon Osbourne's act Ben to beat both Leona Lewis and Ray Quinn. Speaking after the show Walsh told ITV2 viewers: "I'm going to support Sharon 100 per cent and hope she gets the Scottish vote. "Scotland doesn't like you, Simon." Cowell said the MacDonalds' performance was their "worst yet" and described it as "painful". The boys said they were "absolutely gutted" by his remarks, but viewers agreed with Simon. mirror

'Simon said he does respect us' AFTER losing out on Saturday’s vote, the McDonald Brothers are out of the X Factor and taking the high road home. But the Scottish duo told us they are keen to capitalize on their success as soon as they can. “We’re determined to do well,” says Brian. “We’re going to continue to work hard and hopefully get a record deal. We’ll be talking to Louis (Walsh) next week and he’ll point us in the right direction.” The singers, who were constantly slated by judge Simon Cowell, revealed that they wouldn’t be holding a grudge.
