The X Factor finalists today tossed for who would sing first on Saturday night's showdown.

Sitting in the middle of his two act, mentor Simon Cowell did the honours and acted as 'coin master'.

But it was young crooner Ray who won the toss, with a shout of 'heads'. The only problem was, having won, he couldn't decide whether he wanted to go on first or second. Well, it could be a crucial decision...!

After humming and hahing for some minutes, the ever resourceful Mr. Cowell recommended that Ray toss a second coin to help him decide.

Landing tails, fate handed Ray the second spot on the show, leaving Leona with the challange of opening the grand final.

Whether the order in which they sing will make any difference remains to be seen. But one thing is definite.

With the vote being down to the public, this year's winner won't be left to chance...! ITV

X Factor final tension builds

X Factor finalists Leona Lewis and Ray Quinn are battling to keep their nerves under control as the final approaches.

They'll do battle for a £1 million recording contract on Saturday night and the butterflies are obviously fluttering in their stomachs.

Ray said: "I'm trying not to get worried or nervous until Saturday night when I'm behind the doors."

Ray and Leona have spent the last week living a life of luxury and they're getting used to their taste of the high life. Leona said: "I'm just appreciating every single day."

Leona has been the favourite for weeks but bookies say they've had a few four-figure bets on Ray this week.

Judge Simon Cowell said: "It's gonna be a rumble."

They are both lovely people, I'm sure, but I will cast a vote for Leona, because for her not to win would be totally unjust.

Though who knows what the result will be...

The Voice versus The Quiff

Tonight The X Factor, ITV's astoundingly successful reality TV talent search, reaches a climax. It has been a long, hard and, at times, ridiculous road to the final.

Some 100,000 contestants entered, delighting millions of viewers but appalling the judges, especially Simon Cowell, with their capering and caterwauling. Now, 17 weeks later, two remain, knowing they are just four songs and a public vote away from a £1 million recording contract.
