LEWIS TO SMASH FASTEST-SELLING SINGLE RECORD -------------------
British pop beauty LEONA LEWIS is set to have the year's fastest-selling single in the U.K. with hit record BLEEDING LOVE. The X Factor winner's new single looks a dead cert to claim the U.K. singles chart's number one spot this weekend (27/28Oct07), having shifted 66,000 copies by Monday (22Oct07) night. At this rate she will beat the 150,000 units The Proclaimers' Comic Relief single, (I'm Gonna Be) 500 Miles, sold in a week last March (07). Lewis - who found fame on the British reality show and is now managed by pop guru Simon Cowell - joins Take That, Sugababes, Britney Spears and MCFly in the midweek chart's top five. ContactMusic |

Leona beats boy bands to top spot Leona Lewis has seen off competition from boy bands Take That AND Westlife to stay top of the UK singles chart. The former X Factor winner has once again outsold all the rest of the top five singles added together by shifting 158,370 copies of Bleeding Love. Take That stayed put at number two with Rule the World, while Westlife had the highest new entry at three with Home. Timbaland's Apologize climbed three to number four and Mark Ronson's Valerie featuring Amy Winehouse stuck at five. In the album chart, Britney had to settle for number two with her comeback offering Blackout. That's because an American rock group called The Eagles, who first made it big way back in the 1970s, are at number one with Long Road Out of Eden. BBC |

Leo Crushing On Simon? Simon Cowell's been known to make many weak at the knees. But is Leona Lewis one of those people? No, she isn't. She's been quoted by Female First as saying: "Simon's great. We have a bond. I get that people find him attractive because he's very charming, and it's probably the power thing. "He's got a lot of power, so I can see it. But his girlfriend Terri (Seymour) would beat me up if I went there. "I'm 22 and he's a bit on the older side. He's like my dad, like a father figure to me." Instead, her heart belongs to her long-time boyfriend, Lou Al-Chamaa. She told Star magazine: "He's cool and just happy for me. We've never been that couple who've been together night and day, so things haven't changed that much. "I hope we can last. We've been together for such a long time that I'm hoping we'll be able to sustain it for years to come." Ananova |
