Er no, sorry, no link to an entertaining piece in some publication.

Just my opinion.

X-Factor has now moved on to the 'Boot Camp?' stage, and there is some SERIOUS talent being show-cased.

I love the fact that this show highlights what's good, what's impressive, what's inspiring.

The more I look at it, the more I think 'why the heck can't we have more of that, and less of the 'person X hates person Y, but is now in a position to declare that person A is a flop in bed' sort of show? Not that I'm alluding to any reality show which might be dear to our hearts, on this site. ;)

I think the combination of judges on X-factor is great. Louis might be a big eejit at times, but he's a loveable (sometimes) and distinctive eejit. Simon is charismatic, and more. Cheryl Cole is, in my opinion, exquisite - personable, warm, caring, entertaining, ballsy.

(Danni Minogue also appears on the show, and there's nowt wrong with her, but she pales into insignificance, beside the others).

Oh - and Dermot O'Leary is great on the show - but then, that doesn't surprise me in the least.

Two other great presenters are Ant & Dec - and I can look forward to seeing them on the silly bit of nonsense 'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here'.

Who says Reality TV is a pile of poo? :D

Dermot O'Leary has launched a blistering attack on contestants' sob stories.

I agree there is some good talent on there this year.

I think it was very silly of Dermot to say those things if he wants to keep the job. He is good at the job as well, so it is a shame that he should say things like that. He is making himself out to be false, because the contestants really like him and he always seems very caring, but to say something like that, makes it seem as though he is just pretending to be caring. I like Dermot, but I think sometimes he gets a bit too big for his boots.

I wonder if he's been taken out of context here? I didn't hear him say it but actually he has a point. I'm sick and tired of all these ''I've had a really crap life so let me win'' stories. The man whose wife died was very touching as was the young girl whose mum died when she was 7. I have every sympathy for them and anyone else in a similar situation. However does it make them a deserving winner? Only their singing will do that.

I love X factor for many reasons included in GG's post. It's encouraging to see people develop and improve and I always enjoy it when it comes to the live shows. However I've no time for all the slushy nonsense. (unless I where to have a go. Then I would want you to all feel sorry for me cos it's been tough ;) )

I think past contestants have said that they are told to say things like that. I think they are told to think of anything that has happened in their life that they can say to get sympathy. I seem to remember that Sharon especially, use to encourage it.

Another thing that I picked up on last night. When Simon called Liam back and changed the 'no' to a 'yes', I think that was planned not an afterthought, because reading another publication, there are 6 named in each category. Well, surely if they added Liam as an afterthought, then there would be 7 in that category, or otherwise they must have forfeited someone else, but they didn't mention that and they were all lined up ready to go on the stage for either a 'yes' or 'no', so that means at the last minute, they would have had to remove someone from a 'yes' group and put them in a 'no' group.

I know that Simon has changed his mind in the past and I think it was genuine that time, but I can't help feeeling that this time it was planned.

It's as much about being an entertainment show, and keeping up the ratings, as it is about searching out the next great star. (Probably just as well, given Leon's rather low profile these days, although to be fair, it was a year before Leona became a megastar. The real mystery is why there's no 'Leo' in this year's finalists - surely he'd have won?).

I'm sure the show is 'arranged' in such a way as to increase the 'drama!'. It does seem like we're being a little short-changed, now that the 50 are going to be reduced to 12 - I'd prefer it if there were more than 3 of each category going forward for the live shows where the public get to vote.

Oh - and the 'saga' over Danni being annoyed about Cheryl getting more airtime - well, I wonder if that's another story put out to add to the publicity. If not, then my advice to Danni would be to be glad she's got the gig, and be gracious. Er...not that I'm expecting Danni to be calling me, asking for advice. ::lol::

I thought that whole ''we've made a mistake'' thing was a bit contrived too. If they're told to give sob stories it's a great shame. I would want my daughter to win because she's a good voice not because I'm a crap mum :D

A couple of years ago a girl was 'sacked' from the finals because there was footage of her being in a gang and fighting. The agressive girl they are really pushing this time has been in prison and had her first three kids taken into care. That suddenly seems ok and we're to give her a chance because hey she 'want's to turn her life around'

I thought the same thing. Last year it was Sharon and Danni at loggerheads apparently.

Yes, I remember that girl who got chucked out and she was quite good I thought (I wonder if she would have got chucked out if she had been in Simon's group? ;) ).

I don't like the one they are pushing this year, because it is not only about the voice, but the personality as well and I'm afraid her personality doesn't 'do it' for me. She looked quite miserable when she was singing I thought and to me, that went against her.
