A JACKET worn by South Shields X Factor winner Joe McElderry has helped raise more than £1,500 for charity.

The 18-year-old had worn the leather jacket in 2007 when he played the part of Danny in a production of Grease, at Harton Technology College.

But the signed jacket is now the property of grandmother of five Joan Wareham.
