American Idol sources have reportedly claimed that the show will end after next year’s series.

Simon Cowell will leave Idol this year and launch his own X Factor talent show late in 2011. Fox bosses are said to realise that Simon is the most important component on the Idol judging panel and aren’t keen to pit it against his new show.
