South Tyneside Council is planning to mark the teenager's remarkable rise to stardom by siting a statue of the Westoe warbler on King Street.
Joe went from humble student to pop sensation after winning the X Factor, and has already notched up a solo No1 hit with The Climb.
Now council bosses want to cash in on his fame, and predict the 50ft statue will attract thousands of his adoring fans to the town centre.
