Former decorator Matt Cardle has won this year's final of The X Factor.

Cardle, 27 from Essex, competed against Liverpool's Rebecca Ferguson to take the title.

Teen fivesome One Direction were eliminated during tonight's show, finishing in third place. Mentor Simon Cowell said he was "gutted" for them.

Ahead of the final showdown, bookmaker William Hill placed Cardle ahead with odds of 8/11, followed by One Direction at 9/4 and Ferguson just behind in third place at 9/2.

Matt got 44% versus Rebbeccas 38%

Personaly i would rather stick my head in a barrel of green ants than have to listen to Rebbeccas winners song again but then Marrs one just made me want to sleep as its such a durge.

Mind you the over all winner this weekend was Take That who seemed to just domnate both ITV and the Beeb on come dancing with an annoying ex comedien, a girl actress who cant speak words and a stroppy blue peter presenter...

True ::lol::

Remember the voting lines opened on Sat when Cher was booted off the show, then reopened with the same number of votes till One Direction where booted off in third place on sunday .. then the lines reopened with the same votes being counted for the final two .....

so percentage wise One direction and Cher still had a cut of the votes and thus the % missing

X FACTOR'S Matt Cardle today admitted he was a boozy, dope-smoking waster before finding fame.

Yeah youre right of course. But for the first time in four years I didnt dislike the winner. He will do well enough out of it but possible Cher or Katie will do better.

Im just so happy Rebbecca didnt win as she was turning on the sob story to the max, i hate that.

I'm glad that Rebecca didn't win as well. Even on a fast record, she just stood there wooden. Granted she's got a lovely voice (although I'm not sure if it's one I would like to constantly listen to, but that's just personal preference) and she is a nice person, but she lacked the confidence and the versatility. Comparing her to Alexandra Burke (who I'm not a great fan of), she was nowhere near as versatile as her.

If the newspaper report was correct which said that Simon Cowell intends give Matt a guest spot on the US X Factor, then that should help him. He was much more versatile than Rebecca and could sing fast and slow songs and play a guitar and everything he did, he did well. It was unfortunate for him that he was ill for the last 3 shows and I think that did spoil his performances a bit, but he was still very good.

Cher was the most unique one and I hope she does well. As one of the comments to an article in the Mail from someone in Greece said - you may not like Cher in the UK, but just to see how many youtube hits she gets (always far more than any other contestant) shows that there is interest in her out there.

The Daily Mail did their best to make sure that she did not win, by publishing as many anti-Cher articles that they could. I didn't vote at the start, but after Cher got in the bottom 2, I started to vote for her. Then when she left, I voted for One Direction (just because they seem like nice boys and had bonded really well after only a few weeks of knowing each other). I feel sure that given more time together, they could do well. Then I voted for Matt because he really was the best one there and I didn't particularly want Rebecca to win.

Yeah Matt was very full of flu/cold for the last few weeks but never played on it as an excuse.

Rebecca... on the show she had this awful vibrato/warble that went from an in key note to an off key note, it was very odd and harsh on the ear, then she had this other weaker warble she would use that sounded like she was gargling mouth wash. Not to mention the fact like you say seemed glued to the spot the entired series and made all songs sound the same.

I still dont understand who voted for her, did those that did just buy into the propaganda that she would be a great recording artist from the judges? or did they just not like Matt? or worse still did they tear up because she kept saying she needed to win to give a better life to her poor sacked clothed, eating only stale bread kids. :drink:

Anywho I would question one thing about her and that is did she have the wrong vocal coach on the show, I mean she got more and more faked up Motown the more she stayed in the show yet pre the show this is her work

not bad IMO

The thing is, I can't see how winning would have improved things for her children necessarily - they would probably never get to see their Mummy. Money isn't everything. Although she does have a good voice, there was just something lacking in her performances, apart from not moving around. I'm not sure what it was - may have been down to a lack of confidence perhaps? Maybe a lack of personality in her singing or a lack of expression for the song she was singing? I can't really put my finger on what it was, but she didn't have the X Factor!

She sounds very different on that youtube clip. Much better. I suppose she would have still been stuck to the spot whilst singing it though.

::lol::

she lacked vocal dexterity, Christana blew her out of the water on that front and her phrasing is lazy, as in she isnt punchy and on the beat like Cher , she simply lacked musicality ... and another huge issue and why she never moved from her spot when she sang, shes an utter clutz...we have all met people who cant even clap to a beat. well she proved she was just that person on the sunday show when she could nt clap along to take thats never forget. :drink: Ive watched it bacj twice its well funny
