Tom Chambers wants to waltz his way into the movies.
TV’s Holby City surgeon said: “I would love more than anything to do films in the next few years. That’s my real ambition.”
He is determined to recreate Thirties glamour in the spirit of his idols Cary Grant, Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. “I’d love to try to go back and remake some of these great films,” he said.
Chambers and his rival, former rugby international Austin Healey, call each other “Fred” and “Gene”.
Before last night’s quarter final, Chambers said: “I would love to have had Ginger as my leading lady, or Audrey Hepburn, or Grace Kelly. Even Ursula Andress.
“I have a Hollywood manager, and plans for my own film, too. I can’t tell you the title because someone might steal it. It’s a cross between Forrest Gump, Billy Elliot and Singin’ In The Rain.”
