Thanks For Restoring Our National Pride ...

PENNY Lancaster-Stewart was voted out of Strictly Come Dancing last Saturday and where was Rod when she most needed him? In LA.

Today, Rod flies in for today's game at Hampden.

There's a man with his priorities right.

Alesha, Kelly, Matt and Gethin(The best dancersIMO) should be the final four. John and Letita have danced some routines realy well - Kate and Kenny should have been out weeks ago. Poor Anton, it seems like he has to drag Kate around the floor each week.....she's hopeless - at least Kenny tries to do a good job.

Letita has had only one dress/costume that I've liked - I think it was the one she wore for the paso, now I've started to notice how cheap and old fashioned a lot of the dresses/costumes worn by the celebritie and professional female dancers on SCD are compared to their counterparts' on DWTS.

Strictly Come Dancing - Back to school for Gethin Jones

Gethin Jones went back to his old school recently to thank all of his loyal supporters.

The Blue Peter presenter, who is whipping up a storm with partner Camilla Dallerup on Strictly Come Dancing, visited Ysgol Gymraeg Coed y Gof in Cardiff to show his gratitude for all the pupils' votes.

According to the South Wales Echo, numerous posters wishing him good luck adorned the corridors and the students gathered to welcome him in the main hall.

Gethin and Camilla also performed for the well-wishers, showing them the samba and the energetic rumba.

"The support I have received has been overwhelming," he told the newspaper. "Coming back to my old school is weird - it seems a lot smaller than I remember."

His mum is still a teacher at the school and he said he was eager to reach the final of the competition for all of the people supporting him.

Gethin is a hot contender for the title of dancefloor king, as he has not yet been placed in the bottom two and showed off some excellent technical skills with the rumba recently.

Gethin's strictly geeky
EXCLUSIVE: TV dance star's twirly years

He might be a snakehipped smouldering sex symbol now...

But Strictly Come Dancing heart-throb Gethin Jones was a goggle-eyed geek back in his school days.

As our exclusive snaps show, Gorgeous Geth used to wear huge Deirdre Barlow-style specs. And he wasn't exactly a fashion icon, either.

The Blue Peter presenter, 29, was just eight when he made his public dance debut - in knickerbockers, ribbons, bow-tie and those nerdy jam jar glasses.

But his performance with elder sister Meredid, then 10, was a bit of a let-down.

Even mum Sylvia admits: "He didn't do very well."

Now Welsh-born Gethin - partnered by Camilla Dallerup, 31 - is as amazed as anyone that he is one of the favourites to win the hit BBC1 contest.

He says modestly: "I'm not a sex symbol - that's Brad Pitt or someone, not me."

EXCLUSIVE WAR WITH X FACTOR FOR XMAS NO1 SLOT

Strictly Come Dancing is going head-to-head with X Factor in a battle for the Christmas singles chart topper.

In a daring attempt to steal Simon Cowell's musical crown, the infectious theme tune from the BBC1 hit series has been turned into a sure-fire smash-hit song called Let's Go Dancing, to be released in December.

Dan McGrath, who co-wrote the tune with Josh Phillips, said: "We hope one of the show's stars will sing it and propel it to the top. Strictly is winning the ratings war - now we're going to pile on the agony."

A bbc insider revealed pop star Alesha would be first choice to sing the song. The tune - which won a coveted American Society of Composers award - was knocked up in just two hours in Dan's garden shed in 2004. He said: "We wanted a theme that gets people running to watch the TV when they hear it. We went for a Latin feel because it had to have passion, balls, excitement..."

Throwing down the gauntlet to X Factor's eventual winner - who have topped the Christmas chart for the last two years - he added: "We're expecting Simon Cowell to be crying into his Christmas turkey."

HERE'S HOW IT GOES..

Let's go dancing tonight

We're gonna party the whole night through

Let's go dancing tonight

There's nothing I wouldn't do, I'm living la vida loca too

Wanna feel your body close to mine, kiss the lips that taste like wine

Burning up inside, so come out, come out and start a fire tonight

Wanna touch, wanna feel your body heat

Take a chance we can dance out on the street

Salsa for my soul, Samba, Mambo, Jambo, Bolero

Shake your booty shake your body to the ground

Feel the sound all around that latin beat

I want more, more, more...

Barnes is off Strictly Come Dancing

John Barnes has become the eighth person to be voted off Strictly Come Dancing.
The public voted him off after the former Liverpool and England star's samba dance failed to impress the judges.

Mr Barnes lost to Kelly Brook in a dance off after they both scored a total of 27 out of 40.

It was the ex-footballer's fifth time in the dance off.

Judge Bruno Tonioli said: "The samba should be your dance. This is what really should suit you, but this is a little bit awry.

"It was a murmur, it was casual, it didn't have the impact, the fun. It looked like you were rehearsing in the corridor, looking at the floor."

Next week all couples will have to perform two dances.
