Feb 21 2005 :SurreyonLine Celebrities are being lined up for a new tribal version of the TV show Strictly Come Dancing. According to The Sun, the BBC series is going to Africa and will feature stars with African roots. Celebs including actor Richard E Grant, ex-Spice Girl Mel B and Big Brother stunner Vanessa Nimmo are all up for the challenge. And TV presenter Natasha Kaplinsky, who won the first series, could also be included in the line-up as she comes from Africa. BBC chiefs want to fly the stars out, where they will be taught ancestral dances, including the moves of Masai Warriors. A source said: “There won’t be any foxtrot or tango, instead there will be tribal dances. “We will be taking the celebs back to rediscover their culture in countries ranging from Nigeria and Kenya to Swaziland and South Africa. “We want a big mixture of celebs with African heritage, black and white.” The programme will be shown in the summer as part of the BBC’s Africa 05 – the UK’s largest celebration of African culture. |
