Mark and Karen were crowned Strictly Come Dancing Champions.

The time was almost upon us, when it would be announced who would be named the 2006 champions of Strictly Come Dancing, but first of all Matt and Mark returned to the floor to dance a group Viennese Waltz and their show dance.

About the Viennese Waltz the judges were in agreement. "The standard so far is exceptional," said Craig." "What a great Viennese Waltz these two celebrities have put up tonight," said Len. "It was like watching two princes on a roundabout," said Bruno.

In the freestyle round, Matt and Lilia danced to I Say a Little Prayer for You. "Great job, "To come out and do this after five dances... "said Bruno. The lifts were absolutely amazing... I saw a cheeky performance from Matt that I haven't seen before," said Arlene.

Mark and Karen performed their freestyle routine to Shout. "The crowning glory of a spectacular night," said Bruno, adding, "That's entertainment." "That has to be the winning dance," said Craig. "I was right, the boy can dance," said Arlene. "Like the song says 'you make me want to shout," said Len.

With all five dances performed and the phone lines closed, all it was left to do was to announce the winners of the competition... Mark and Karen were crowned Strictly Come Dancing Champions.

"Karen has given me the experience of a lifetime," said Mark.

Well, my nerves were in tatters watching last nights show and then having to wait 2 1/2 hours for the result. It was such a relief when I heard Mark & Karen proclaimed the winners, well done to both of them!
*Doing an Arlene here* my only critique is about Karen hanging on to Mark a bit too long after the result - actually, Karen was coming across a bit too desperate to win and hanging out of Mark for a couple of weeks now,IMO so much so that I was afraid it would lose them public votes, thankfully, it didn't.

Last night, Matt and Lilia (I love watching Lilia dance, she made Matt look better than he is.IMO) danced better than I've seen them do so far, especially their show dance - I was getting a bit worried there for a while when it was Mark & Karen's turn, wondering if Mark could lift Karen - as Karen admitted herself, she is not as light as Lilia, but lift her he did, right over his head! I think having 'Shout' for their dance music helped a lot...got the crowd going which always helps.

It was nice of Matt to admit at the end that Mark was the better dancer, and it was great to see all the contestants dance again. I still think Spoony and Ray went out of the show way too soon.

I'm looking forward to watching the Christmas show, I wish SCD was on every week, for me, it's been really entertaining TV on a Saturday night for the past few months. ()^

Former England cricketer Mark Ramprakash has won the latest series of BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing.

The 37-year-old, who still plays for Surrey, and partner Karen Hardy beat ex-rugby union star Matt Dawson, 34, and Lilia Kopylova after a public vote.

The winning couple were awarded 40 out of 40 for one dance in the live final, which attracted 12m votes from viewers.
