Strictly friends!

Tv star Kelly Brook knows all about Strictly Come Dancing charmer Brendan Cole's reputation as a ladies' man.

And she's well aware that her partner in the fifth series split from his fiancee Camilla Dallerup after he got too close to TV newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky in the first show.

But Kelly, 27, who is engaged to actor Billy Zane, said: "He hasn't really played up too much.

"He hasn't met Billy yet. I'm sure we're going to have lots of fun."

Kelly and Brendan will be joined on the dance floor next month by model Penny Lancaster, actress Stephanie Beacham, former EastEnder Letitia Dean, pop star Alesha Dixon, GMTV host Kate Garraway and sports presenter Gabby Logan.

Also hoping to carry off the title are Gabby's husband, rugby star Kenny Logan, footballer John Barnes, Coronation Street actor Brian Capron, EastEnder Matt Di Angelo, snooker player Willie Thorne, Blue Peter presenter Gethin Jones and BBC One Show reporter Dominic Littlewood.

Capron, who plays Corrie killer Richard Hillman, hopes the show will improve his image.

He said: "There are a lot of people who still think I've got a crowbar in my trousers."

GABBY Logan may embarrass herself on Strictly Come Dancing — according to her MUM. Christine Yorath said the presenter, 34 — who is competing on the BBC1 show with hubby Kenny — is fiercely competitive but not very coordinated. She explained: “She’s quite a clumsy person. It was always amazing to us that she became a gymnast.”

Rod said just go for it, Hot Legs

EXCLUSIVE STRICTLY DANCING PEN ON BREN & HOW ROD HANDLES HER SEXY MOVES WITH OTHER MEN
By Richard Barber

Penny Lancaster is getting ready to shimmy her 6ft frame across our TV screens every Saturday night as half of one of the hottest couples on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.

And she's nervous as a kitten. "I'm so excited when I think about it. Then a wave of panic sweeps over me. I know my knees will be knocking together and my hands will be sweating profusely."

But Rod Stewart's gorgeous blonde wife is determined to do well. "I'd be upset if I was voted off first. I'd love to win it because that would mean I'll get to learn all the dances - my goal is to be the best I can be."

So who does she regard as her deadliest rival? She doesn't hesitate. "Kelly Brook," says 36-year-old Penny. "She is absolutely gorgeous. She's got one of those bodies women want and men desire. And she's partnered by Brendan Cole. They're a red-hot couple."

Penny has already danced with Brendan, famous for his bump and grind both on and off the dance floor.

The event was a charity polo match in Essex in July. Penny was a celebrity guest. "One of the auction prizes fell through at the last minute and the organiser, a friend of mine, said that one of the professionals from TV's Strictly Come Dancing - Brendan - who happened to be there agreed to step in and offer the first dance with the highest bidder. It was for charity so my friend asked me to help out with the bidding.

"Bidding started at £1,500, so I upped it to £1,800 - and suddenly it stopped dead. I'd won. Brendan came over and was introduced to me, and we took to the floor and it was a great experience. Everyone was cheering."

The event, to raise funds for a breast cancer charity, was partly organised by the daughter of Penny's old friend Maria Falco, who died of the illness a few years earlier at the age of 42.

"It was Maria," reveals Penny, "who dared me to go up to Rod nine years ago at the Dorchester hotel in London and ask for an autograph for her daughter Louise. If I hadn't done that, Rod and I wouldn't be together today."

So what does the 62-year-old rock legend have to say about his leggy wife dancing with another man? "He knows how much I love dancing. I did tap, modern and ballet until I was 11 and was told I'd never make it as a professional dancer because I was too tall. I was heartbroken.

"Rod is one of those people who, if he sees someone following their dream, he'd never dampen it. I danced to his hit Hot Legs for a charity performance in Tonite's the Night on the West End stage. He was in the front row cheering me on."

Penny twice turned down invitations to appear in Strictly Come Dancing because of family commitments. She says: "When I told Rod I was thinking of accepting the latest invitation to take part in the show, his reaction couldn't have been more supportive. 'You go for it, girl!'" he said. The BBC has flown Ian Waite, Penny's professional dancing partner on the show, out to her in LA so they can start rehearsing. "Rod came to one of my practice sessions to understand exactly what I was asking of my body."

Not to check up on her, perhaps? After all, it's not every man who'd be happy to watch his wife spend quite so much time in another man's arms.

"True, but it's not as though I'm having an affair behind Rod's back."

But she'll be getting physical with another man..."Yes, but I'll be like an actress playing a role. If I've got my leg wrapped around Ian's shoulder, it'll be because that's part of the requirements of that particular dance.

"If I were in a darkened nightclub or in a bedroom and I had my leg wrapped around another man, then obviously that would be a different story!"

Penny says that in the weeks leading up to their wedding, she and Rod paid for a choreographer to give them dance lessons.

"We wanted to learn the basic moves so that when we took to the floor for the first dance at our reception, we didn't trip over each other's feet."

As well as the dancing, she relishes the prospect of toning up her figure. "I'm still not as fit as I was before I got pregnant with our son Alastair," she says.

It was during the last Strictly Come Dancing series that Emma Bunton became pregnant with a new little Baby Spice.

So are Penny and Rod planning a brother or sister for Alastair, who is two in November?

"Absolutely," says Penny. "And who knows - after Strictly Come Dancing has finished, I'll be fit and strong - the perfect time to have another baby."

'My leg will be wrapped over him.. but we're not in bed!'

Kelly Brook Exclusive

Kelly Brook sure looks good on the dance floor.

Model Kelly, 27, gives a glimpse of her super toned body before she appears on TV tonight in Strictly Come Dancing.

She has been putting in the hours practising her tango and foxtrot for the BBC1 show.

And her fabulous curves have got TV partner Brendan Cole, 31, in a spin. The professional dancer was so flustered at seeing her in her sexy stockings he forgot his moves.

Kelly said: "I don't know if he found me intimidating but I'm sure we're going to have fun." And there's more to come with Essex girl Kelly squeezing herself into a skimpy flesh-coloured leotard with only a smattering of sequins to cover her modesty.

As well as setting her sights on becoming the next dancing queen, she hopes her perfume, called Kelly Brook, will top the Christmas gift list. She said: "It is a fragrance designed for me that I know lots of other people will love too."

Flirty Strictly Come Dancing

Get ready for temper tant rums galore, bitching, flirting and lots and lots of falling over.

Oh, and there'll be some dancing too.

The fifth series of the hit BBC1 show Strictly Come Dancing kicks off tonight with a special preview showcasing the latest celebs gearing up to cha-cha-cha. With the likes of Kelly Brook, Gabby Logan, Penny Lancaster and Alesha Dixon taking part, along with EastEnders' Matt Di Angelo and rugby hunk Kenny Logan, it's shaping up to be the steamiest series yet.

But it's not just about sex and dancing - ex-snooker star Willie Thorne will be there too. The live competition proper starts next week when Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly return with judges Arlene Phillips, Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood.

So as the nervous contestants enter their last week of training, we take a sneaky peek behind the scenes... and find out what really goes on in those hot and sticky studios.

Gethin Jones & Camilla Dallerup

Blue Peter's Gethin is rapidly emerging as the most self-critical of the bunch.

"Come on Jonesy, concentrate, you fool!" he's often heard muttering to himself while trying to avoid stepping on Camilla's dainty feet. And he is crippled by the giggles when the two get close during the dances.

Gethin claims she's like a wife and mother to him - which might explain some of the bickering. Although Gethin is willing to let Camilla take charge, there have been early signs that he can get irritated with her.

At one point he snapped: "Camilla, don't. I'm just mentioning it." When she tried to explain herself Gethin cut in and frostily told her to "forget it". Whoooh, get him!

Gabby Logan & James Jordan

TV sports presenter Gabby is so energetic she's wearing out the normally super-strict James.

At one point, James wanted to sit down to show mum-of-two Gabby, whose rugby player hubby Kenny is also taking part, a dance routine on his laptop. But Gabby accused James of making an excuse just so he could have a break.

James has dubbed her the "bionic woman". "Oh baby!" he said. "It's tiring. She's a machine." Blimey.

Kelly Brook & Brendan Cole

When there's a beautiful woman around, Brendan's never far away and he is finding it extra hard to concentrate with sexy Kelly.

Kelly, who is engaged to actor Billy Zane, has had to tell him to start focusing more seriously on the routine and less on her amazing body.

She has even warned him a few times that he should go home if he's not going to dance properly.

Brendan is going all out to impress the latest lady in his life. But his attempts to woo her haven't always gone to plan.

At one point he tried to show off with a cool slide move in front of her. Sadly, he ended up completely cocking it up and nearly injured himself in the process. Shame.

Alesha Dixon & Matthew Cutler

Former Mis-Teeq singer Alesha has been freaking Matthew out with all the weird noises she's been making during training.

Their sessions have sparked off loads of strange straining sounds, whoops and bursts of singing.

And Alesha's distinctive laugh echoes around the dance studio.

She admitted herself that her chuckle sounds exactly like Dick Dastardly's Muttley. She giggled: "Oh no, now I'm going to get really paranoid about it!"

Willie Thorne & Erin Boag

Former snooker star Willie is worried about his weight. He keeps mentioning his "big belly" and is constantly complaining to Erin that he "looks like an elephant". He said: "I can't see anything other than my big belly."

Erin has already nicknamed him "Wobbly Willie" due to his inadvertent hip action during the waltz. But the pairing is proving a success and Erin finds Willie utterly charming.

She said: "Willie is what this competition is really about. He is a classic gentleman with no dance experience who will go on a journey."

Kenny Logan & Ola Jordan

Kenny's wife Gabby and Ola's hubby James are training next door, so it's almost like an episode of Wife Swap.

Gabby and James haven't been able to resist popping in to check on their progress.

And James has even demonstrated with Ola how it should be done in a bid to give Kenny some extra tips. Talk about an unfair advantage!

Matt Di Angelo & Flavia Cacace

Eastenders star Matt is worried he's going to end up looking camp. Er, this is the campest show on TV, Matt!

He's been getting frustrated with his inability to grasp the steps. And in an uneasy moment, he shut himself in a storeroom and whispered that he thought he and Flavia were getting on each other's nerves.

The actor marched back out with a boxing glove and said: "I've found something that can make us friends again. Hit me!"

Good lad.

"IT'LL BE A LONG HARD SLOG"

By Rory Smith

Former Strictly Come Dancing champion Darren Gough has warned this year's contestants that they're in for a hard slog.

Yorkshire and England cricket star Gough, 37, won the show in 2005 after starting the series as a total novice - with hands described as "spatulas" by judge Len Goodman.

He said: "Strictly Come Dancing showed me how committed dancers are. The show's a lot of hard work and it really helped my fitness.

"You're practising for hours every day. We worked hard Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and wound down a bit on Thursday and Friday - to keep a bit of an edge for Saturday.

"You have to have total trust with your partner, and you have to get really close with a lot of eye contact. But I hope I proved that even macho blokes can dance. Every man would love to dance but they wouldn't have the guts to do it."

And he reckons that some dances should be on the national curriculum.

"Everyone should be able to waltz," he says. "At school it should be compulsory to learn the waltz.

"Me winning Come Dancing just goes to show that if you put your mind to something you can achieve it, however unlikely it seems.

"The whole experience was incredible and something I will always remember.

"The show is an amazing journey."

KELLY'S DANCE FIXING STORM

KELLY Brook was last night at the centre of a “fix” row which has rocked Strictly Come Dancing.

Jealous rivals have dubbed the BBC1 hit “The Kelly Show” because they are convinced it has been rigged in her favour.

And the ill-feeling over “Special K” is threatening to plunge the show into crisis – a week before it returns to BBC1.

Rivals are fuming that she has been paired with housewives’ favourite Brendan Cole, 31, a previous champ.
And they claim Kelly, 27, is also getting huge publicity and will benefit most from a major rule change.

Bookies have already firmly installed the ex-Big Breakfast babe as hot favourite to win the celebrity dance contest.

Tonight a documentary is being screened (BBC1, 6pm) and is billed as “all the backstage gossip” of the show.

But it will not show all the bitching and ill-feeling that is going on behind the scenes of the programme. EastEnders star Matt Di Angelo, 20, is the only contestant who has gone public with his feelings.

He raged: “Every time I open a paper she’s pictured in a skimpy outfit and there’s just a few lines about everyone else. Judging by the coverage she is getting, Kelly is going to win. Everything is always about her.”

A show insider added: “There’s a strong feeling that Strictly is being turned into The Kelly Show.

“People are already calling her ‘Special K’ behind her back. It’s nothing personal because she’s a lovely girl but some
people’s egos are getting severely bruised.”

Earlier this week BBC chiefs announced the results show would be moved to Sundays and the judges would now make the final decision on who leaves.

The bottom two couples from the public vote will face a dance-off leaving the judges to decide who should stay and who should go. If the judges’ vote is split 50/50 then head judge Len Goodman, 65, will have the deciding vote.

The insider said: “There’s been a growing feeling of unease about how the show is shaping up. At the heart of it is the feeling the programme will be rigged to make sure Kelly won’t be voted off too soon.”

Last night BBC bosses were adamant the show was not weighted in favour of any of the contestants.

A spokesman said: “The show is not being fixed in Kelly’s favour.

“It is totally fair. Everyone is being treated the same. Kelly’s picture has been used by lots of media outlets because she is very photogenic but that is not our decision.

“We’ve decided to make the change (to the show) after getting a lot of feedback from viewers who felt the results show went out too late. It also makes a lot of sense to go out earlier on a Sunday evening – it gives all the family the chance to see who gets voted off.

“We believe having the judges making the final decision is a formula that has worked well in other shows and will add to the drama.”
