Strictly Line-Up The line-up for Strictly Come Dancing’s professional dance troupe has been revealed today – and two of its biggest stars have announced they are leaving the show. Lilia Kopylova and Matthew Cutler have both decided to quit their roles on the dance show, however neither have ruled out making some guest appearances in the future. Cutlet is reported to be focusing his energies on a choreographic and teaching career, while Copylova also said that she is keen to take on some new projects. “I've had six brilliant series on the show, I will miss it, but I am looking forward to new opportunities ahead. Of course I will be there to support Darren and all of my fellow professionals,” she said. Meanwhile, Ian Waite and Darren Bennett have both announced that they will be returning once again, to be part of the professional dance troupe. As part of the group, the men will perform regularly on the show, but will not partner any of the celebrity contestants. They are to be joined by four brand new recruits, one female and three males, who are still to be confirmed. The professional dancers who will each team up with one celebrity dancer for the new season of Strictly include 14 old favourites. Brendan Cole, Anton du Beke, Ola Jordan, Flavia Cacace, Erin Boag, Kristina Rihanoff and James Jordan, will all be back, as will Vincent Simone, Natalie Lowe, Aliona Vilani and Katya Virshilas. Joining them for the next season of Strictly are three new dancers, Robin Windsor, Artem Chigvintsev and Jared Murillo. The new series of the show kicks off this autumn. waveguide.co.uk |

Strictly Come Dancing Contestants on this year's Strictly Come Dancing will be revealed in a launch show filmed in front of an audience at BBC Television Centre. The BBC said the contestants will also be introduced to their dance partners in the one-hour show, to be aired on September 11 - three weeks before the start of the contest. It is thought stars will be paid on a per-show basis this year, rather than being given a flat fee for the series. Bruce Forsyth will no longer present the results show and has already revealed that will be taking a pay cut for the 2010 series. In the newly-announced launch show, dancers and contestants will be filmed arriving on a red carpet and performing a group dance together. The programme will be recorded on September 8. waveguide.co.uk |

Strictly Come Dancing Four new dancers have joined to complete the new Strictly Come Dancing professional dance troupe, which will perform spectacular dance routines throughout series eight. They are: Tanya Perera, who was a featured dancer in the West End production of Dirty Dancing; Shem Jacobs and Aneta Piotrowska, who have both performed in the Polish Dancing With The Stars; and Crystal Main, who has performed on Strictly Come Dancing in South Africa. Crystal, Tanya, Aneta and Shem will join Darren Bennett and Ian Waite to make up the six-person group and together they will make their group debut performance in this year's Strictly launch show, due to transmit on BBC One on September 11. Darren Bennett will dance with Crystal Main, Ian Waite will dance with Aneta Piotrowska and Shem Jacobs will dance with Tanya Perera. As well as the troupe debut, the launch show will feature a red carpet event at BBC Television Centre, a revamped set, pairings of celebrities and their professional dancing partners in front of the studio audience, plus a group dance featuring all this year's competitors. waveguide.co.uk |

X Factor and Strictly Will Not Clash The launch of the new series of Strictly Come Dancing will not clash with The X Factor. Last month, the BBC revealed that the reality show would return with a red carpet opening on September 11. However, unlike last year, the current series launch is not scheduled to overlap with the X Factor auditions. Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly are to return as hosts for the show and during the one-hour special will reveal the 14 celebrities taking part in this year's competition. The show will air at 18:25 with The X Factor beginning at the slightly later time of 19:45. During the Strictly Come Dancing launch a new set will be unveiled, three new professional dancers will be introduced and the celebrities will discover who their pro partners will be. Last year Strictly Come Dancing lost out to The X Factor in the ratings battle despite having the second-best viewing figures on any series. X Factor boss Simon Cowell has criticised the BBC for the scheduling the shows head-to-head saying that Strictly Come Dancing should be aired earlier. waveguide.co.uk |

Strictly Come Dancing BBC1, Friday 01 October 9:00pm - 10:00pm Ever since this year's Strictly launch show, when Ann Widdecombe firmly announced, "I always wanted him!" of her professional dance partner Anton Du Beke, I've been worried about the poor guy. Will he survive her enthusiastic but slightly heavy-footed moves? How will he overcome the disparity in their heights? Tonight and tomorrow we'll get a better idea as she and her fellow contestants take to the dance floor for the start of the series proper. From that first fleeting glimpse, ex-EastEnders actress Kara Tointon and Countryfile presenter Matt Baker both seem in with a chance of lifting the glitter ball trophy - although Felicity Kendal was pretty nimble on her toes, too. It's probably kinder not to mention Paul Daniels' efforts. But back to Ann Widdecombe: I can't see her winning, but she's a great sport and is obviously going to be entertaining, so she and Anton Du Beke are likely to be around for a few weeks yet. The new Strictly Come Dancing opening credits Strictly Come Dancing makes it proper return tonight at 9pm on BBC1, and we’re not going to lie, we are excited. Strictly means more than just celebrities dancing; we love the costumes, the glitter, the judges banter, Brucie’s bad jokes, the tans, the pro’s showcase dances, the feathers, the sequins. And this year we love the fact that it’s not scheduled against X Factor, which means we get hours and hours of light entertainment TV heaven from now until Christmas without having to make a choice between the two shows. We’ve just seen the opening credits for the show, we’re now even more excited about tonight’s episode, where we’ll see Strictly Felicity Kendal, Goldie, Matt Baker, Pamela Stephenson, Patsy Kensit, Paul Daniels, Scott Maslen take to floor. Peter's goal to watch his step in the arms of Miss Whiplash He made his name for having a safe pair of hands but now it's mostly about his feet AT a very posh golf club on the outskirts of Coventry, Peter Shilton is having a little shimmy. Draped over his right arm is Erin Boag – the so-called Miss Whiplash of Strictly Come Dancing, the tough taskmaster in a sequined frock. Shilts describes her as "the best boss I've played under". And he's played under a few. ThisisDerbyshire |
