Tony Christie's (Is This The Way To) Amarillo was the best-selling single of 2005, according to Radio 1.
Christie spent seven weeks at number one with the million-selling charity song, which featured comic Peter Kay.

It beat the Christmas number one That's My Goal - rushed into production after Shayne Ward was proclaimed the winner of the X factor - into second place.

James Blunt's album Back to Bedlam was top in the end-of-year album charts also aired on Radio 1 on Sunday.

It spent four weeks in the top spot during the summer.

Former army officer Blunt had been at number one for five weeks with his ballad You're Beautiful, but came behind the Crazy Frog in the end-of-year chart.

Other top ten singles included Pussycat Dolls' Don't Cha, Westlife's You Raise Me Up, Nizlopi's JCB Song and Madonna's Hung Up.

In the album chart, Blunt's Back to Bedlam held off competition from a number of Mercury Award prize nominees for the top spot.

Coldplay was at number two with X&Y, Kaiser Chiefs' Employment was at number four and K T Tunstall's debut album Eye to the Telescope was at number seven.

Robbie William's album Intensive Care came in at number three.

Ms Dynamite charged with assault

Singer Ms Dynamite has been charged with assaulting a police officer and disorderly conduct.
The Mercury Prize-winning star, real name Naomi McLean-Daley, allegedly punched a female officer in the face, bruising her nose, while in custody.

The singer, who was arrested after allegedly kicking the door to a London nightclub, is said to have been abusive towards officers who questioned her.

She has been bailed to appear at Bow Street Magistrates' Court on Friday.

The singer, who won the Mercury music prize in 2002, had been celebrating her 25th birthday before her arrest in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police allegedly saw her kicking the front door to the Paragon Lounge nightclub in Hanover Street, west London.

The star had been out celebrating her birthday with her brother Kingsley Daley.

Mr Daley, 22, a company director, has been charged with obstruction of police.

And Carlene Godwin, 24, was arrested and charged with a section 4 public order offence.

The trio - all of whom are from Kentish Town, north-west London - were bailed to appear at Bow Street Magistrates' Court on Friday

Jolie and Pitt expecting a baby

Pitt and Jolie have kept their relationship under wraps
Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are expecting a baby, Pitt's publicist has announced.
Pitt's spokeswoman confirmed the news after US magazine People ran a story claiming Jolie was pregnant.

The news comes a month after Pitt signed papers to make him the adoptive father of Jolie's two children.

The actors have been linked since Pitt split from ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, but both have refused to speak publicly about their relationship.

Jolie, 30, and Pitt, 42, met on the set of their film Mr and Mrs Smith.

Pitt denied a relationship with Jolie was behind the break-up of his four-year marriage to Friends star Aniston.

Pitt's publicist Cindy Guagenti confirmed the pregnancy after People magazine ran the story, quoting a charity aid worker in the Dominican Republic where Jolie is filming The Good Shepherd.

"Yes, I'm pregnant," Jolie was quoted as telling the charity worker.

Jolie's father, actor Jon Voigt, said: "Angie is my daughter and I am always wishing the best for her."

Pitt and Aniston divorced in October. Jolie was previously married to actor Billy Bob Thornton and Trainspotting star Jonny Lee Miller.

Jolie's adoptive children are Maddox, 4, and Zahara, who is about 11 months old.

Kylie given 'all clear'

Kylie Minogue has been given the all-clear from cancer.

Doctors in Paris told her her six-month chemotherapy treatment has been successful.

According to The Sun a source said: "Kylie was desperate to see her family. She just wanted to hug them all and tell them it was going to be okay.

"She is thrilled and relieved. It's been a tough few months and there have been times when she felt very weak and very down. Chemotherapy is a gruelling, horrible treatment which puts the body under intense strain.

"But this is the news she has been waiting to hear and she can hardly put her happiness into words - she just keeps beaming.

"For the past couple of months she has been feeling very positive and healthy. She has put a bit of weight on and has been feeling confident about the future.

"Her hair is even beginning to grow back, which she is tickled pink about. So this news really is the icing on the cake."

Next week she will start daily radiation treatment to guard against cancerous cells returning. She will be tested again after six weeks of the treatment.

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen will get a second chance at the £1m jackpot on ITV1's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? after a mix-up over a question.
The former Changing Rooms star and his wife, Jackie, had reached the final level in a special Valentine's charity edition of the quiz show.

He appeared to give the wrong answer to a question about the English translation of the US's Latin motto.

But programme maker Celador has admitted the question was "ambiguous".

The couple will now be given a second chance to take the show's top prize with a second £1m question.

During filming for the show - which will be shown on 11 February - the pair had answered the £500,000 question with ease.

They then faced final question, which was: Translated from the Latin, what is the motto of the United States?

They had to choose from the following answers: A) In God We Trust, B) One Out Of Many, C)All As One , or D) Striving Together.

Llewelyn-Bowen, who had sailed through the previous questions with ease, replied: "It's In God We Trust."

But the answer was One Out Of Many and the £1m prize was lost, sending the couple's winnings for their chosen charity - Shooting Star Children's Hospice plummeting to £32,000.

In God We Trust is the official motto of the United States, adopted on 30 July, 1956, and appears on US currency - but it is not a translation from the Latin.

One Out Of Many is another US motto and is a translation from the Latin E Pluribus Unum. It has appeared on the country's Great Seal since 1782.

A Celador spokeswoman said: "We are not satisfied that the question they went out of the game on meets our usual high standards of fair game play, so we have invited them back to resume the game with a new question at the same level."

Llewelyn-Bowen, who presents BBC One's Holiday programme, said: "We feel as if we've been reprieved from the firing squad. How unusual is it to get a second chance in life?

"But as far as we are concerned, this charity really deserves this so we're clearing our diaries and going back for another onslaught, and we're grateful to Celador for the opportunity."

The US Embassy said neither of the answers was wholly correct.

"In God We Trust is the motto of the United States, so that part of the answer is right but it wasn't translated from Latin. So he's right and he's wrong," a spokeswoman said.

The couple are the first celebrity contestants to reach the show's £1m question.

Eminem re-marries

Rapper Eminem has remarried his former wife Kimberly Mathers, more than four years after the pair's divorce and custody battle over their daughter.
Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers III, married his high school sweetheart in 1999, but later fantasised graphically about her death in his 2000 hit, Kim.

Guests at the ceremony near the couple's hometown of Detroit included rapper 50 Cent's hip-hop group G-Unit.

The rap star released his greatest hits album Curtain Call last month.

The tightly guarded ceremony took place at Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester Hills, Michigan, a popular wedding venue on the Oakland University campus.

The 33-year-old rapper arrived in a black limousine, wearing a red baseball hat.

News helicopters hovered overhead and journalists gathered outside the site.

Family and close friends were present, including members of hip-hop group D12, whose Proof (real name Deshaun Holton) was best man.

New York DJ Lord Sear provided the music for the reception.

Eminem and Kim Mathers, 30, were both brought up along the Eight Mile Road in the suburbs of Detroit.

When they married in 1999, they already had a daughter, Hailie, who became the subject of a bitter legal tussle when the couple divorced in October 2001.

The rapper made the headlines last August when he was treated in rehabilitation for an addiction to sleeping pills.

He also admitted recently that he was considering retirement from the music business.

"I'm at a point in my life right now where I feel like I don't know where my career is going," he said.

"This is the reason that we called [my greatest hits album] Curtain Call, because this could be the final thing. We don't know."

WHITNEY AND BOBBY TO DIVORCE?

BAD boy singer Bobby Brown (left, with Whiteny) told a group of women that he and wife Whitney Houston are divorcing.

Bobby, 36, was chatting them up backstage at a show by all-girl group SWV in Connecticut.

A witness claimed: "While flirting with a bunch of women, they asked, 'What's up with your wife?'.

"Bobby said, 'We ain't together no more. We're getting a divorce'."

Brown and Houston's 14-year marriage has been rumoured to be in trouble for years. Brown has been in jail over drink driving and in 2003 he was accused of beating Houston, 42, after she called police. She later dropped the charges.

Angelina expecting twins

Hollywood megastar Angelina Jolie is reported to be expecting twins with Brad Pitt.

The couple confirmed last week that Jolie was pregnant.

The Sun newspaper quoted a source as saying: "Angelina is overjoyed. Getting pregnant with one of Brad's children would have been God's precious gift to her.

"Now we believe she is carrying twins, Angie is in seventh heaven."

Another source told America's Celebrity Living magazine: "I understand that she's undergone fertility treatments to help her conceive and it certainly seems to have worked."

Jolie is due to give birth in the summer.

It was revealed this week that a judge has granted the celebrity couple permission to change Jolie's kids' names from Jolie to Jolie-Pitt.
