The snow was forecast for this area but apart from I very light shower we saw nothing.

The temperature is slowly rising here. During the day it max'd out around 2C but it's now 2.7C and rising. But as a result we have some rather thick fog across the valley.
Tomorrow is forecast around 8 or 9C with yes Rain.

I've also got the car battery on charge with a low power charger as the short journeys (9ish Miles a day) and the cold don't go together so the battery needs a small top-up from time to time during the Winter. I don't fancy cycling this time of the year if I can't start the car one morning. In the summer if that happens (last time I'd left the interior light on all night !) I just grab my bike out of the garage and the car gets a charge during the day.

Yes I heard reports of blizzards under the front that has brought all the rain to many parts today.

Up till 1800 we'd had 12mm of rain and as forecast the front has tracked South again and in the last two hours I've recorded another 4mm.

Since the massive area of High Pressure moved away that was centered over Finland and Northern Russia Low Pressure has taken over and there are lows circulating from Iceland across to Norway then down to Scotland and Ireland plus some are now making it across the Atlantic. Whilst the High was in place to protected the UK from a couple of very deep Lows that came across the Atlantic.

As a follow-up to the last ,by Midnight 20mm had been recorded. Another bust around 0015 added 1mm to today's total.
But as the rain moved away the skies cleared so the temperature dropped to 1.7C along with a weather warning from the Met Office of wide spread icy roads.

The forecast charts issued 0730GMT Monday show a deep low situated over Northern England Tuesday that'll move slowly North East during Wednesday.
But it looks as if another deep low is set to replace it during Thursday.

Looks like another Wet and Windy week ahead.

Gales and flash floods predicted

Flood warnings are already in place after heavy rain over the weekend
The UK faces flash floods and travel chaos as heavy rain and gale-force winds start to take effect, the BBC weather service has warned.

The storms are expected to drive in from the west to southern England and Wales during Tuesday.

Rain and gale-force winds are predicted to hit the rest of England, Northern Ireland and Scotland later on.

Roads and train tracks, even in city centres, face the prospect of being swamped, the BBC said.

Tomasz Schafernaker, a BBC weather forecaster, said that flash floods could be expected, even in London's underpasses, due to the volume of rain overwhelming drainage systems.

Locations uncertainty

The Met Office predicted about 25mm of rain would fall in some areas.

But Mr Schafernaker said the exact location of potential floodings was hard to predict.

"That's the million dollar question that we'd like to know in advance as well," he said.

The forecaster said the strongest winds were likely to hit Dover and the Dover Strait, where severe gale force levels are predicted.

Floodings advice

The Environment Agency has eight flood warnings in place and 57 flood watches.

The agency said it expected the number of flood warnings to increase as the bad weather crosses Britain.

A spokeswoman said areas where warnings are in place should take action against potential flooding of homes and businesses.

The agency advised people to continually check the flood information section of the Environment Agency website which is updated every 15 minutes.
