What if my digital equipment stops working after switchover?A few of the oldest digital boxes and TVs will stop working at switchover. This includes all ONDigital equipment, and a limited number of older digital TVs sold before 2005. Affected TVs can be upgraded with a new digital box. Find a list of the products affected

The update in August killed about 5 models of set-top receivers but looking at the new list a lot more people will be affected come the day of switch over .
Admittedly our TV is old and will be over 10 years old when we change over in this area as we are one of the last to change but will need an external receiver to continue to be used. At this point I'll recover the original chassis from the roof and convert it back to full analogue then it's just making sure we have two receivers that don't interact with each others remotes or that of the TV. If the tube is still sharp and clear there's little point in replacing it with a flat screen that uses 3 times electric.
An example is my 32 inch LCD that I bought from Argos that has a power rating of over 300 Watts ,most of that must be the back-light for the screen going by the heat that comes off the screen. Most later CRT TVs are well under 100 Watts.
Maybe some Plasma owners could give examples of the rating on their sets.
