'Bully Ben' survives boardroom battle

Ben Clarke, the Belfast-based trainee stockbroker aiming to become Sir Alan Sugar's next apprentice, suffered a setback on Wednesday night when he was drawn into a boardroom battle for the second time in a row.

Apprentice juggernaut rolls on with 7m

BBC1's ratings blockbuster The Apprentice once again flattened everything in its path as the reality business show picked up an audience of 7m (28.4% share) at 9pm last night.

The hour-long show, featuring Alan Sugar, began with 6.6m (27.1%) and grew steadily to 7.4m (29.7%) in the final quarter of an hour.

So far this year BBC1 has averaged 4.7m (19.8%) in that slot and at the same time last year averaged 5.6m (24%).

TV ratings: Apprentice takes charge with 7.5m viewers

Halfway through its fifth series, the latest edition of The Apprentice brought in 7.5 million viewers last night, Wednesday 29 April.

BBC1's hit reality show, which last night saw Noorul Choudhury fired by Sir Alan Sugar, had a 31% share of the audience between 9pm and 10pm.
