The Apprentice set for May launch as Junior Apprentice takes on X Factor

Lord Alan Sugar has revealed that 2011's main The Apprentice series will return to our screens as early as May – and a new series of Junior Apprentice will also make a comeback in the autumn TV schedule, pitted against X Factor.

The Apprentice Redux: Lord Sugar changes show format to 'create entrepreneurs not employees'

When the series returns in June, the winner of The Apprentice 2011 won't just end up working for Lord Sugar - they will launch a brand new company with the grizzled mogul.

This is exciting stuff. Not content with with the current format of the show, Lord Sugar is overhauling the programme to encourage entrepreneurship, not stoogeship.

This has been coming for some time. Remember Lord Sugar's twinkle at Stuart 'The Brand' Baggs' assertion that he would spearhead a new venture? The young whippersnapper wanted to - ahem - make millions for his Sugarness.

The Apprentice: a masterclass in how not to do social networking and app development

Expecting The Apprentice to show an accurate portrayal of app development is like expecting Nick Clegg to develop a personality. Nevertheless, I sat down to watch last night’s show with the same attitude as watching England play anyone good at football – I knew it was going to be bad, but just how bad? It turned out to be a masterclass in outdated sales thinking and a complete misunderstanding of how social networking and app development works in the 21st century.

Alex Cabral’s ‘comedy’ Welsh farmer reignites racism debate

He failed to make an impression on Lord Sugar and was the first contestant to be evicted from reality series The Apprentice. But Alex Britez Cabral’s ‘comedy’ Welsh farmer mobile phone app has re-ignited the debate about the boundaries between racism and humour. Darren Devine reports

Cabral wanted sheep noises as the background to his Welsh farmer’s voice, but more restrained colleagues decided this would prove offensive.
