TELLY host Russell Brand mocks his former drug problems – by snorting an aerosol can in a comedy about a rehab clinic.
In real life, the 31-year-old presenter spent time in rehab after becoming hooked on Class “A” drugs.
But he is now clean and has rebuilt his career to become one of Britain’s top stand-ups.
ITV will devote an evening to his skills on Wednesday as he hosts the Brit Awards and then stars in new sitcom The Abbey.
Brand plays Terry, a superstar DJ who can’t see why his crack addiction causes such a fuss.
In the first pilot episode, he takes an aerosol can of cream from a fridge.
After emptying the contents on a plate, he snorts gas from the canister. Then he almost blacks out as he shoves the plate of cream into his face.
“I used to be a clown,” he jokes. “And I still miss it.”
