THE Brits have escaped a media watchdog rap over jokes by TV host RUSSELL BRAND.

His comments about THE QUEEN, drugs, ROBBIE WILLIAMS, Iraq and intimate parts of the body sparked 262 complaints.

The event was shown on ITV1 from 8pm — before the watershed. But viewers expected Brand, 31, to be “edgy”, said the station.

Watchdog Ofcom said the “tongue in cheek” sex references and drug comments would not have been understood by young children.
