No George Michael or Kylie, but the show goes on
Kylie Minogue Music superstars George Michael and Kylie Minogue will not be making appearances at a festival in Thanet today.
The 70s Extravaganza at Quex Park, Birchington, is being hosted by
Dermot O’Leary and BBC weather girl Kaddy Lee-Preston. The line-up includes Suzi Quatro, Lulu, the Glitter Band and T-Rex, as well as “appearances by surprise guests”.
Careless Whisper singer George Michael has family in Birchington and has in the past been seen in the town. Aussie pop star Kylie was also rumoured to be appearing, but an insider at the 70s Extravaganza told KOS Media: “There had been behind-the-scenes negotiations and they got to a fairly advanced stage.
“However, I can now say for certain that neither George Michael nor Kylie Minogue will be there. I was quietly confident, but things changed and now they can’t be there.”
The show will raise money for the cancer unit at the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate. The acts will be performing without payment so all the proceeds from the £25 entrance fee will go to the unit.
